elieving that physical fitness and sensory experience sharpen mental skills, spark the imagination, and boost academic achievement, Wendy Nadherny Fachon created Story Walking to nurture a child’s individualism and promote unstructured, creative exploration of the outdoors. As a “Story Walker,” Fachon combines nature walking and storytelling into a positive new approach to weight management, creative and productive thinking, and extra-curricular enrichment. Fachon brings the magic of Story Walking to after school clubs and field trips, scout meetings, summer camps, church youth programs, mom’s groups, daycare centers and birthday parties. The exercise becomes a treasure hunt, with nature providing one clue after another—leading each child deeper into his or her own investigation and the creation of his or her own unique story. Children also learn to use field guides and related online resources. “Bodies were designed to breathe, to move, to sense and to create,” says Fachon. “In the outdoor classroom there are no walls, and the sky is the limit.” For more information, call 401-884-1559 or visit NetwalkRI. com. New Location for Iyengar Yoga Source

I

yengar Yoga Source has moved to Conley’s Wharf in Providence. According to owner, Linda DiCarlo, the new space is larger, has ample free parking, and will be suitable to host in house workshops with guest teachers. “It does take time to season a new yoga room,” states DiCarlo. “With dedicated time on the mat we will be able to create the soothing vibration of the Pawtuxet Village studio. All are invited to come, see our new space and take a free class during the first two weeks of each new session.” Linda DiCarlo teaches in the tradition of BKS Iyengar, is certified at the Intermediate Junior 3 level, and is Yoga Alliance registered. She has a master’s degree in exercise science and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a health fitness specialist. She has served on a number of yoga association boards and served as president of the Iyengar National Association of the U.S. from 2006-2008. DiCarlo says she is interested in developing the Rhode Island Iyengar Yoga community and expanding the range of workshops and retreats offered in New England. Iyengar Yoga Source is located at 200 Allens Avenue, Suite 4A in Providence. For more information, email info@LindaDiCarlo. com or visit LindaDiCarlo.com
