GOING LIVE! HOMER ELECTRIC'S NEW PODCAST FOR MEMBERS

H

omer Electric's new monthly podcast “Going Live!” made its debut last month as a way to connect with you, our members! HEA's Member Services Supervisor Tanya Lautaret and Information Services Analyst Joe Halstead will host a monthly podcast on the last Tuesday of each month. The "Going Live!" hosts will talk about industry specific trends, energy savings, renewables, safety, generation, and also meet with professionals in the industry to get an idea of what it takes to deliver power to HEA members. It will give our members, a peek of what a typical day in the life of HEA looks like, and how we power the Peninsula. There will be interviews with linemen, plant operators, directors, member support representatives, and more. Are you interested in saving money on your electric bill? Or learning some tips and tricks to saving energy in your home? HEA BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS DUE BY MARCH 4

H

omer Electric is accepting nominations from members interested in running for a seat on the cooperative’s board of directors. The cooperative’s board consists of nine directors, three from each of the three Kenai Peninsula service area districts. HEA directors are elected by district, with members voting only for the director in their respective district. This year, the District 1 (Kenai-Nikiski-parts of Soldotna) seat currently held by HEA Board of Director Dan Chay will be on the ballot. Director Chay is term limited and will not run in this year’s election. In District 2 (Soldotna-Sterling-Kasilof area), the seat currently held by HEA’s Board of Director Ed Oberts will be up for election. Director Oberts is term limited and will not run in this year’s election. In District 3 (Kasilof-Homer-Seldovia area), HEA members will vote for the seat currently held by HEA Board of Director Erin McKittrick. Director McKittrick has informed HEA that she will run as a candidate for the District 3 seat. Members interested in putting their name on the ballot must complete a Candidacy Packet that requires the candidate to gather a minimum of 15 signatures from current HEA members that live in the district where the candidate resides. The Candidacy Packet is available at HEA offices in Kenai and Homer and at the links below: 2022 HEA Board Candidacy Packet (Interactive) 2022 HEA Board Candidacy Packet (Printable) The deadline to submit the Candidacy Packet is 5 PM on Friday, March 4, 2022. Completed packets can be submitted at either the Kenai or Homer HEA offices or scanned and emailed to Board Candidate@homerelectric.com. Ballots will be mailed to HEA members on April 4, 2022, and to be counted, a ballot must be received by HEA’s election committee through the mail-in ballot process by May 3, 2022. There will be no in-person voting at the HEA Annual Meeting. The results of the election will be announced on the day of the Annual Meeting no later than 3:00 PM on May 4, 2022. GOVERNOR DUNLEAVY SEEKS TO GAIN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
