The Ft. Lauderdale native, Mike Blanc brought his 100 percent Haitian background to the Plains in the fall of 2006. From Deerfield High School, he landed a full scholarship as a defensive end at Auburn University.

The Tiger Prowl for Haiti is a benefit football camp for defensive football players in high school. Ninety percent of the proceeds from the camp will go towards relief in Haiti. The other 10 percent will go towards the four sessions of the week-long camp in Auburn, Ala.

Blanc graduated with a degree in Public Administration in August of 2010. He led the Auburn defensive with 12 sacks in the 2010 season, including one for a fumble recovery for a win against Alabama. Blanc went on to be named the 2010 defensive player of the year in the SEC. In April of 2011, he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round.

Blanc and other NFL stars will tour the southern states of Alabama, Georgia and Florida, visiting over 30 high schools to promote the camp. “Haiti is my family and my heart. This foundation will do amazing things for those struggling there, Blanc said.

The Mike Blanc Foundation Created in the spring of 2011, the Mike Blanc Foundation is a non-profit foundation that works to donate continual rehabilitation and relief efforts to the country of Haiti. Monetary donations and mission trips are planned with college football teams across the south. The full-blooded Haitian also sees a desire to mentor young, rising football stars along the right path to success. This foundation has started three mentoring programs linking the college football teams of the University of Miami, the University of South Florida and Florida State University with their local high school teams.

Other donations will be used to send the high school with the most participants to Haiti for one week with Blanc and other special guests. The players will work hands-on to donate their time and effort to the Haiti relief. Senior defensive end Mike Blanc was the 40th pick overall in the 2011 NFL draft, going to the Miami Dolphins.

During the camp, coaches from the Miami Dolphins and Auburn University will work to train and coach high school players in every defensive position. Through various drills and scrimmages, players will get a taste of the college and NFL levels of play.
