THAN ORIGINALLY EXPECTED?

With the rapidly changing temperatures worldwide, a question is being raised with many raised eyebrows. Is climate change happening at a faster rate than expected? Otherwise, are the scientists making us aware of climate change & the fast-changing temperatures needing some technical advantage? All these questions are lined up merely as climate change is a huge cause of rapidly changing weather conditions. Especially witnessed these changing temperatures in many parts of Europe & North America.

There are millions of people all across the world who are experiencing the effects of climate change firsthand. The blistering heat waves have smashed temperature records around the globe this summer, including scorching crops, knocking out power, fueling wildfires, buckling roads and runways and likely killing thousands in number, thousands alone in the continent of Europe.

Remembering the previous summer holidays spent in London while roaming around & shopping in London city Centre. Temperatures in July 2022 in London and Hamburg in Northern Germany teetered over an edge that seemed unthinkable in previous centuries: 104 degrees (40 Celsius). Can you believe that? Well, I can, as I was there & never expected the mercury to reach that scorching heat in the most pleasantly witnessed Julys of the yesteryears where London is supposed to be the ideal place to visit in England. This time around, in July 2022, I witnessed it as the hottest-ever summer in England. No wonder, although my roots are from Asia, I couldn’t take the scorching heat & the boiling hot sun. The same question was something I had to ask myself, Is Climate change happening faster than we originally expected? Or the impact is just too hot to handle.

IS THE CLIMATE CHANGE LARGELY TO BE BLAMED FOR THE EXTREME HEAT WAVES?

Yet another question has arisen regarding the heat wave & yet another eyebrow has been raised, is there more than one answer, or is there any other answer for climate change other than the heat wave? Global Warming has established a hotter baseline for summer temperatures, dramatically increasing the odds of more frequent, extreme, and longer-lasting heat waves. Global Warming has been the right answer, as study after study has shown & proved with obvious results. The worst part of global Warming & climate change is the heat wave length that has increased substantially over the years. This is something witnessed in Europe & Canada, including British Columbia, precisely Vancouver.

According to Otto, the Co-lead of World Weather Attribution, ‘Climate Change is the driver behind the heat wave, just as it is driving every heat wave now.’ He also added that Heat waves that used to be rare in past years are now very common, or one can say more common. Also, the heat waves that were termed as impossible to happen are now killing people as stats are rising. The previous summers in Vancouver, British Columbia, raised the level of mercury to 46 degrees Celcius, which is the most recorded in at least 50 years and killed many people.

IS THE CLIMATE CHANGE UNFOLDING FASTER THAN THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE SCIENTISTS?

Well, the statement is partially true & partially wrong, as many experts claimed that it’s happening at the right time & with the right & most justified pace. However, for most, the answer, at least in the broad sense, is a no. In fact, what’s more factual is that the linked rise in greenhouse gas levels and the global average rise in temperatures has tracked tightly within the spread of model predictions. This is even dating back to the 70s from the era of the cruder climate stimulations.

WHAT MIGHT BE THE OTHER FORCES CONTRIBUTING TO VERY HOT HEAT WAVES?

There are contributions from other sources that are also contributing to very hot heat waves. A larger variety of researchers are exploring the degree of the contributions from other forces. According to Lehner, a researcher, ‘There has been constant efforts regards to the exploring of the degree to which certain forces could be exacerbating heat waves and whether they are accurately presented in the model.’

The answer that science has regards to other forces includes the potential feedback effects, which include the drying out of plants and soil in some vital regions. It is justifiably beyond certain thresholds, and this can be a cause of the acceleration of Warming during the heat waves. Thus, the evaporation effect is otherwise going into evaporating water goes to work warming the air.

However, in most cases, the scientists are right regards to their predictions for rising temperatures.

Now, the question is what needs to be done for the prevention of Global Warming to climate change. It can’t be stopped. However, at least the length of the heat wave can be controlled. The hazards that are related to climate change and the Global warming effects need to be reduced as part of the precautionary weather threats. It is indeed an issue that Scientists & Researchers need to think about together while they come up with feasibility plans & solutions. It is on the top agenda of President Joe Biden, the 46th US President, who said in his inaugural speech regards to Climate Change & how America intends to fight the issue, along with their neighbours Canada.
