LEARNING FROM EXPERIENCE

This year A&M-SA launched the Career READY Program,which allows students to utilize their Federal Work Studyaward to receive a market-wage for off-campus employment.Organizations included: Momentum Physical Therapy, the SanAntonio Food Bank, the San Antonio Police Department, Houseof Neighborly Service, Ascension DePaul Services, Saddle LightCenter, MixFit SA, disABILITYsa, several area school districts, and many more! In the first year of the program twenty-seven students were hired and received a total of $167,000.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Mays Center staff coordinated seven projects and partnerships for experiential learning classes with organizations including: Alzheimer's Association, SAMMinistries, Black Stallion Boxing Plus, TelResource, and Girls on the Run. Some of the projects included developing a social media plan and marketing opportunities for new initiatives in response to closures and the need to innovate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

VIRTUAL EXTERNSHIPS

This new innovation on the traditional externship experience brought Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union leaders and students together in a virtual space for networking, learning, and understanding the employer perspective on hiring. Students gained insights on the company and learned about networking in the virtual space.
