They do not always see everything eye to eye, but I know for sure that they love each other. As I have prepared many editions of MAXXbrides, I realize that what’s most important for a wedding is never the party. Yes, you do want that special moment when you both start the first day of the rest of your life together to be unforgettable but what’s most important is the life that you are going to have together as husband and wife. To be there for each other in ‘sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in good times and in bad, till death do you part.’ I have learnt by observing my parents that what matters the most is finding someone who will stand by your side, who will pick you up when you are down, who will be your strength when you are weak, who will always believe in you even when you do not believe in yourself. Another thing that I have learnt is that it takes an army to prepare a wedding, so let’s get the preparations started. The young and talented fashion designer Monica Ivena shares some tips on finding the perfect wedding dress. Tell us a little bit about yourself, how long have you’ve been a fashion designer and what made you interested in this profession? I have wanted to be a designer since I was just 6 years old. Dressing people has always been my hobby. There is joy in me when I can make people look beautiful. This year marks the 6th year since I launched “Monica Ivena” brand and since I became a designer. Describe your design in 5 words. Chic. Feminine. Whimsical. Detailed. Sparkling What is the trend for 2018 season? For the wedding dresses; a full embroidery dress will still be in trend. The geometric pattern will also still be in style, but 3D applique is coming back next season. When choosing a wedding dress, do you think a person should follow the ‘trend’ or not? Why? It totally depends on each individual when choosing a wedding dress. You have to 52

decide whether you want to follow the trend or want a classic look. None is better than the other. But for me personally, I would recommend a dress that still follows the trend yet at the same time has a classic cut to it. So that the dress you choose will still look beautiful in 20 years’ time. Do you think colours play an important part in a wedding dress? What are your favourite colours? And why? For wedding dresses, white is still the most popular and most recommended colour. But nowadays, brides are becoming more adventurous and want to look more fashionable in their wedding dresses. So adding a pop of colour to your dress will make it different compared to most wedding dresses. In my latest show “Eisberg”, I made a gradation wedding dress to show people that your wedding dress can still be white but with a touch of something new and fresh. My favourite colour is blue. Blue has been my favourite colour since I was very young.

And that is also the reason why Monica Ivena’s brand logo is in little dipper blue background because that is the specific shade of blue that I love. Can you give us some tips on choosing a wedding gown for a petite body? For brides who are petite, I would recommend a ball gown or an A-line shaped dress. I think it will be a good fit for you. A ball gown is perfect for parties in a ballroom as it will make you look glamorous, while A-line is more for outdoor parties, it will make you look beautiful, elegant and slick. How about plus size women? For plus size brides, I would recommend a more fitted dress. A Fitted dress will not add volume to your body, but find a cut which can accentuate your curves. A dress that fits you well almost at the hips or below the waist line (H-line, A-line or mermaid shape) will be a good cut for you.

According to Nuke when it comes to choosing the right makeup artist the most important is that you have seen the makeup artist work in person, in this digital time, it is very important not to rely just on photos or social media but to look at the artist work in a real person, because photos can be quiet deceiving. Every makeup artist has a signature style, you have to be sure that the makeup artist’s signature style is similar to the look that you want. It is also important for you to look at the makeup brands that the artist

is using, and find out if you are allergic to the brand. The last thing you want is to have an allergy on your wedding day. For Marcel, what’s most important is to be comfortable with the makeup artist. Find someone who you can feel comfortable with in sharing your ideas and someone that you can trust in delivering those ideas. Having a trial makeup is very important when creating the look that you want on your wedding day; you can discuss and exchange ideas with the makeup artist to get the best result on your wedding day, said Marcel, and Nuke couldn’t agree more, adding that the trial is to visualize the look that you want and to find the flaws and make changes to make it look the best. After all the research, references and trials you should then be able to make the right decision. There’s no exact science here, so weigh the pros and cons of each makeup artist you are considering. And always remember to trust yourself.

Our first stop at the AYANA Resort and Spa, BALI hunt was the Tresna Wedding Chapel. For a contemporary twist on a traditional chapel wedding, the Tresna Wedding Chapel is just perfect. AYANA resort’s new Tresna Wedding Chapel has a magnificent ocean background view with comfortable surroundings in a fully air-conditioned chapel. The chapel itself can accommodate up to 70 guests. The original Tresna Chapel built in 2003 has a good history of creating happy moments. However, this new Tresna Chapel is a more modern version of the previous Chapel, with enhanced views and additional perquisites which include a sparkling glass aisle, lower arched windows gazing upon the floating water that surrounds the chapel and out across to the Indian Ocean. Beneath the Chapel is a function space with a private manicured lawn that is an ideal setting for post-wedding cocktails with a view, and it discreetly accommodates 110-guest.

Another location that would be perfect for our wedding ceremony is the Wedding Deck at AYANA Villa which complements the resort’s iconic SKY. Spanning above the Indian Ocean from the garden of the resort’s opulent 3-bedroom pool villa, we can enjoy complete privacy with a 180-degree ocean view for up to 200 guests in a splendid sit-down dinner or up-to 500 standing guests. This site is perfect if you are planning on having a big wedding party/celebration. An additional benefit of choosing the Villa is that we can make use of our very own private dining room. This room can seat up to 40 guests, and the view of Jimbaran’s shoreline is endless. My personal favourite thing about the Dining Pavilion is the glass-enclosed environs on the First Floor which goes by

the name ‘Heaven, ’ and it is a visionary interpretation of a well-appointed ballroom space. Designed to accommodate 190 people, it takes on the look of a contemporary lounge with a high ceiling and wrap-around balcony providing mesmerizing ocean views. Customized wood panels act as sliding partitions to form three separate function rooms for more private gatherings. Each distinctive area has an audio-visual system and can be furnished accordingly with smaller groups of 40 or fewer guests in mind.

We love the work of Sam Lee the founder of New York Art. We feel like every picture that he takes speak a thousand words. To find out how he makes such magical photos, we spoke to Sam Lee to put together tips for an ideal photo shoot and also find out his favourite pre-wedding destinations.

Pre-wedding Tips Who decides the theme, the couple or the photographer? Sam: Normally my stylist and I will come up with a theme, and then we will sit down with the couple to tailor it more to them and their style. How do you make a photo shoot? Who provides the wardrobe, location, makeup artist and all that’s needed? Sam: It’s all about teamwork between the couple and the vendors. Everyone has a role to play. The photographer will choose the location; our team will then arrange the schedule and permits needed, the props. The stylist along with the couple will choose the wardrobe according to the look that they want. The stylist will choose the makeup artist.

When the couple show up for the photo shoot, do you always stick to the theme or is there improvisation? Sam: For me, the most important thing is for the couple to feel comfortable and confident with the theme. Some couples are more comfortable to stick to the theme, while others might want to look different in their pre-wedding pictures than originally planned. What are some of the problems that can come up during a photo shoot? Sam: When the couple don’t know how to pose for a shoot and secondly the weather could pose a problem (can be too hot or rainy) especially nowadays it is so hard to predict the weather. Is there any specific thing that a couple must do/don’t do before a photo shoot? Sam: let’s start with the do’s, get to know the photographer before the photo shoot so you are more comfortable and less nervous, and also practice a lot of expressions in front of the mirror and find your best angle. Do not be nervous, as it will show in the camera. Maintain a healthy living and exercise prior to a photo shoot, as a photo shoot can be quite tiring so you want to make sure you have the stamina for it.

Any tips to couples on choosing the right photographer? Sam: Browse through their work, nowadays it is easier to look at a photographer’s portfolio as most of them are featured on their social media, find the one that you like. Make sure that the photographer has the experience (the more the better) of taking pre-wedding pictures. Choose a photographer who has his own style yet are up to date with the current trends. France

Paris, the City of Light and easily the worldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s most favourite city for honeymooners and couples looking to snuggle up with some culture, fine wine and beautiful vistas. Paris has been a favourite city for lovers for generations, with its world-famous landmarks, quaint back-street restaurants and sprawling parks, and with the gently meandering Seine cutting through it all.

In France, I also love Provence for the famous Provencal lavender. Provenceâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s most beautiful season is between the months of June and August. To catch the prairies of lavender in full bloom the best time to visit is between the end of June to mid-July. If you are planning a visit to the south of France, then bear these months in mind as the beauty of the lavender will turn your Provence pre-wedding photos into a perfect summer with the essence and colour hues of the blooming lavender making everything all the more beautiful.

Most couples go to Japan for the famous cherry blossoms. April is normally the magic month and pink or white are the “IN” colours. There is about a two-week window when the cherry blossoms flaunt their most memorable shapes and colours, creating an eye fiesta. The blossoms may start as early as January in southern Japan and reach their peak in Tokyo at the end of March or early April. Hokkaido, the country’s northernmost island enjoys the last of the blossoms. This is a springtime show not to be missed, but weather plays a big part in determining the perfect period.

In fact, this stone forest is the second biggest and one of the most beautiful Karst Mountains in the world. One thing that is unique about this place is that this Karst mountain is shaped like towers and faces. You can take unique pre-wedding pictures around the black forest stones in Rammang-Rammang with Karst Mountains and yellow rice field that surround this area as a background. The best time to take your pictures here would be during month of June or November as the rice fields are blooming at that time. When choosing a wedding celebrant, the key question to ask yourself is, “Who is my guest?” this is a once in a life time event, you want your guests - your ‘target’ - to have a great time at your wedding ceremony. For instance, If the primary demographic of your wedding guests consists of young, lively friends (say, in a destination wedding on an island), you’ll want to choose a contemporary celebrant that has a personality that is light-hearted, keeps the ceremony short, and is a peopleperson. In this situation, being joyful and

upbeat is key, so your guests are smiling and cheering with you as you share the best moment of your life with them. However, you may be inviting wedding guests that are largely from a background that expects a wedding ceremony to be liturgical and dignified. Perhaps your uncles and aunts that come from a more traditional culture are your guests of honour, and you want a ceremony that respects their style and their seniority. Most likely, though, you’ll be dealing with a blended audience, that is made up of friends and family that come from both traditional and contemporary cultures. Since you are seeking to please both ends of this spectrum, here is a simple ‘celebrant hack’: their clothing. It is true that a person’s attire speaks on their behalf. Therefore, if your contemporary celebrant is young, lively, and energetic, have him dress in a very formal tuxedo, or religious robes, to include your traditional guests. Or, if your traditional celebrant is older, wise, and serious, ask him to ‘dress down’ with an open collar, to include your contemporary guests. riting your own vow is pouring out your heart to the one you love and want to spend the rest of your life with and it’ll be worth it when you’re up at that altar. Here are tips to guide you Deciding to write Deciding to write your own vow is something that shouldn’t be taken likely; you have to be a 100 % sure. You need to talk to your partner about it, you both have to be equally committed to the idea if not it wouldn’t turn out great. If you both agree to write your vows, do you want to write it together or separately? Will you show it to each other or would it be secret to be revealed at the altar? Structure and Research Finding a structure that works for you may require some deep research, but don’t be afraid to mix and match. Use words like; I promise __. I will __. I do __. I promise to love, respect, and trust you, and give you the best of myself, for I know that together we will build a life far better than either of us could imagine alone. To start your research, read traditional vows — from your own religion, if you practice a certain faith, and also from others as well, along with secular wedding vows, see what interests you the most. 108

You can incorporate these into what you write, or use them as a guide. Getting ideas from other sources isn’t such a bad idea! Borrow freely from poetry, books, even movies or video games. Take note of words and phrases that capture your feelings. “Plagiarism is both allowed and encouraged. Truth is, most vows are plagiarism since we’re hoping to steal some wisdom from people that have gone before us”. Think about your relationship Take some time, both separately and together, to think about what you love about each other and what makes your relationship special. Write down the most memorable moments you have shared together, good or bad. Reflect on the promises you want to make to your partner and the ones you don’t. • Why did you decide to get married? • What hard times have you gone through together? • What have you supported each other through? • What challenges do you envision in your future? • What do you want to accomplish together? • What makes your relationship tick? • What did you think when you first saw your fiancé? • When did you realize you were in love? • What do you most respect about your partner? • How has your life gotten better since meeting your mate?

Write it out early and shorten your vows to one to two minutes, max. Don’t leave writing your vows until the day before the wedding. Give them the time and thought they deserve, and save your future self the stress of trying to be super thoughtful—most likely, you’ll be in a million different places on the eve of your wedding, which is not the proper brain space. Your vows are important, but it shouldn’t be lengthy. Pick the most important points and make them clear. If yours is going longer than two minutes, edit it. Put some of the more personal thoughts in a letter or gift to your fiancé on the eve or morning of your wedding. Practice! Memorizing is an option, practising is not. It might be awkward but practice looking up while you read your wedding vows, so you can actually look at your partner as you the words. It’s common to mumble or speak softly when reading, so practice your vows to make sure your family and friends will hear you. These are words that are meant to be heard by an audience, so check how they sound when spoken. Read your wedding vows out loud to make sure they flow effortlessly and watch out for tongue twisters and long sentences.

His cooking style for events like wedding ceremonies are always special. The Gindara fish itself is marinated for 2-3 days prior. For wedding dishes, there are red, yellow and green colours - symbols of happiness and also the fried noodle - Symbols of Long Life.

Simple and Authentic is his style of cooking. When it comes to weddings, Chef Andry loves these dishes: “Seafood Salad with Lentil and Orange Dressings” - I want to bring out the uniqueness of the presentation. A new and unique style of presentation inspired by Aquascaping methods; “Salmon Sous Vide with Edamame, Wasabi Mayo and Beurre Noir (Black Butter)”- I use the Sous Vide method to keep the texture and colour of the salmon. Add the Beurre noir or black butter because not many chefs use it anymore whereas actually, Beurre noir has a unique taste that matches the whole dish. A healthy and high nutrition dish; “Basil and Parmesan Crusted Lamb Rack with Green Pepper Gravy, Corn on the Cob and Vichy Carrot” - a Fresh taste of basil and the collaboration of corn, carrot and the other ingredients just matches perfectly to the whole dish. 113

Our advice to other couples is to find a wedding venue that already has such a perfect view so you can save on your decoration budget!” said Ina laughing.

Blending classicism with modernity, Wendy chose a chic silhouette by Sebastian Gunawan, accented dedicated beads details, and finished with a sculptural bouquet that played on darkness and light; edge and elegance.

Doing justice to every carefully considered detail was one of our favourite photographers, Agung Mulyajaya from IMAJ. The Bride said, “We are obsessed & can’t take our eyes off with today’s botanical themed wedding at the safari. The safari park was creatively transformed into an appealing array of colours; jewelled colours of fruits & shades of refreshing greens”.

The bride’s amazing custom-made dress complimented the wild & natural look of the stalls, this wedding was completely and utterly one of a kind. And the towering & glistening wedding cake! First off, take a sunset river cruise, there are several cruise operators providing this service but if you’re on a budget use the Local ferry transportation, it will take you along the river to see this historical city. When the sun is down and the city lights up, take a romantic walk on

the Pest side of Budapest: starting at the Hungarian Parliament along the Danube River, you’ll pass the famous monument called Shoes on the Danube, then head through the iconic 1800s stone suspension bridge, Chain Bridge, to arrive on the Buda side. From the Buda Castle and on top of the Castle Hill, you will get a splendid view of the city. When you pass this Chain Bridge, don’t forget to pledge your love with the love lock! Another must-try experience is for couples to thermal bath together in one of the bathhouses and again along the river. Szechenyi Bath is s the most visited and much-praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic and it is more than a 100 years old. It is the bed that was made to take you to your dreams.

There are so many things to do at The Westin, we tried the Sunrise cycling tour around the Nusa Dua area, which was an enjoyable breath of fresh air after so much time in the polluted city of Jakarta. We took morning yoga classes in the summer garden, which was simply relaxing. We took a dip in both the freshwater and saltwater pool, relaxing on the Bale reading books while enjoying the breeze of the Indian Ocean and savoured delicacies of the resort’s superb restaurants. And we strolled along the beach, enjoying the feeling of sand under our bare feet and the freedom of, for a short time at least, not having any responsibilities. The visit to The Westin is not complete without a trip to my favourite Heavenly Spa. When I booked our treatment, the Jayaprana & Layonsari couple’s ritual, I chose it because I liked the items on the packet, only later did I find out that this much more than just a ritual. The Jayaprana & Layonsari couple’s ritual is based on Bali’s own epic love story. In fact,

the floral designs and representations of nature throughout Heavenly Spa represent an epic Balinese love story quite like Romeo and Juliet. After reading the love story, my partner and I were eager to experience the ritual. Our 180 minutes amorous ritual began with the traditional burning of Balinese incense to bless loved ones. An invigorating scrub using Balinese sea salt was followed by an elemental cleansing wrap with locally sourced seaweed, and while we were wrapped up, our therapists gave us an indulgent scalp massage. After a quick shower, we dozed off under the expert hands of the therapists as they had us in a full-body deep-tissue oil massage. The ritual ended with a nourishing Dedari facial, said to induce the kind of rapture that overtook Jayaprana when he first laid eyes on Layonsari. But the main reason why we love this restaurant is the food. Tamarind serves local flavours with an international twist. The menu offers a diverse selection of bistro favourites and contemporary Asian dishes, the choices of food are wide, we loved to dine here, and we tried many dishes. I must say they all looked simply delicious. Hello, sunshine! I said to myself as I opened the door to our private terrace. Who doesn’t like to wake up to warmth on our skin right after a good night sleep? We had a great time yesterday exploring the hotel, and we slept like babies. After I did my short stretch routine, I took a bath and along with my partner, we took a stroll on the beach side. Throughout our

stay, it felt like those days when you donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t feel like doing anything except laying on the comfy bed, and my favourite spot was one of those comfy chairs on the beach. Just laying around, soaking in the sun and enjoying the scenery. There is only one more thing that would make our stay at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa complete, that was a trip to the spa. And that was what we did precisely. We had a traditional Balinese Massage, the massage started on my back and shoulder, and with each stroke, I felt more relaxed. The therapist used traditional oil mixed with spices, herbs, and flowers that made my skin feel smooth. It was so soothing that I almost fell asleep. 90-minutes passed by like a second, and suddenly the treatment was over. We felt so relaxed after the massage, all the tiredness and body ache was gone, and we felt completely refreshed, and slightly hungry afterward.

Because we stayed in Place Club room, we were entitled to the Palace Club privileges, one of which is access to the evening cocktail at the Palace Club Lounge. So, it was time for an evening cocktail at the Lounge; we enjoyed our champagne and wine while soaking in the serene surrounding and we saw the gooses and ducks playing in the pond. During our stay here at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, we saw a lot of couples get married, and some were having their pre wedding photo shoot. Having stayed at this resort, I can understand why many couples like to take their photos at this beautiful location. My favourite part of the treatment was the Java Honey Cucumber facials, I just love how Kriya spa uses natural ingredients for the facials, which was perfect for my sensitive skin. The treatment ended with a truly relaxing Milk and Bali herb soak. It is one of the most relaxing baths we have ever had.

Our whole body was incredibly relaxed and our mind was somewhere in bliss land. The treatment not only pampered my body but also my mind. One day as we were enjoying an evening cocktail at the hotel’s executive lounge, we were greeted by a charming gentleman who turned out to be Mr Colin Young, the hotel’s General Manager. A veteran in the hospitality industry, Mr. Young has a very impressive background having spent his career around the globe. We noticed how Mr. Young was very involved in ensuring that all guests were well-taken care of and that their needs are met before they even ask. We told him how much we love the

food here and how popular the hotel is for weddings, and he kindly invited us to have lunch with him at the hotel’s famous Tang Palace. The next day, we met Mr. Young at Tang Palace where Simon Li, the executive Chinese chef had prepared a special menu for us. We were simply blown away at lunch, as Mr. Young explained to us, that each of the menus here is specially crafted and each has a meaning. The ultimate joining together of a man and woman--the joining together of two spirits; the joining together of two minds; and the joining together of two bodies. That is why many people believe in Moral Purity. Moral purity means that sexual expression is reserved for the covenant of marriage between a husband and wife. Reserving sex, sexual fantasies, and sexual expression only for your husband or wife means more than just what you do physically, but what you look at and what you think about. Sex is a lot more than just sharing your body—it’s a journey of intimacy. Figuring out boundaries together gives you great opportunities to seek the Lord’s wisdom, and to learn how to love each other more deeply. When you are married do not starve your spouse of Sex. God made men and women sexual beings. He made our nervous systems capable of receiving pleasure from the sex act. Sex in marriage is good and holy and ordained of God. Enjoy having sex with your partner, Marriage is the one place you can explore and try new things. Don’t get boring with the “vanilla” sex (aka, the missionary position). God is not against other positions and no one will judge you exploring with your partner. That said, not every couple enjoy the same things, figure out what works for the both of you. You should enjoy it to the fullest. It is better to give than to receive. When it comes to sex, it is better to give yourself willfully to please your partner than wait to be pleased, most of the times. What’s more enjoyable is getting your partner off, and being reassured that it was an enjoyable experience for him/ her. Sometimes women want it. Try to send signals to their man but don’t go for it because of what society has made us believe that it is the man’s place to initiate

sexual encounters. They want to receive the pleasurable attention, they wait for their husband to make the first move but it shouldn’t always be like that. Sending signals are great but sometimes because of the hectic demands of the day, your signal may not be read. Making the first move doesn’t have to be you literally asking “let’s go have sex”, you should start off with games, sexy messages while you’re at work, a romantic dinner, a candlelit massage with sensual oils - all of this will create a buildup that can lead to the most incredible of experiences. Being on the receiving end is also a wonderful experience, but to truly enjoy it you have to be very comfortable with your partner, you need to tell your partner where you like to be touched, and make requests for the things you imagine.
