sales director Debbie Isles. “They’re ideal to display in baskets, vases and jars as well as in a window box.” Continuing Candlelight’s floral theme is Summer Meadow, a range of candles and home accessories featuring lavender scented reed diffusers and wax filled pots and tins with floral detailing, co-ordinated with lilac packaging. “The range has got definite ‘mum’ appeal,” says Debbie.

Lavender is also a feature at Lesser & Pavey. Managing director Julian Hunt comments: “Our new Lavender range, featuring hand painted watercolours by Jennifer Rose, is an excellent choice for Mother's Day. Lavender is a firm favourite with ladies, beautiful as well as practical, and will last a lot longer than flowers.” Xystos too, is saying it with flowers with the Pink Peony and Vetiver gift set from Grace Cole’s Luxury Bathing Company. “The packaging is gorgeous, which is really so important when it comes to occasions such as Mother’s Day,” comments Xystos’ director Tom Sykes. “The person receiving the gift likes to know that thought has gone into the purchase. Bath and body products provide a lasting memory of a lovely Mother’s Day, allowing mums to continue to pamper themselves long after the chocolates have been eaten and the flowers have faded.” Joe Davies’ head of product development, Laura Leigh, points out that Mother’s Day is very much about sentimental and thoughtful messages. “It’s about showing thanks and appreciation.
