Licensing Expo: Las Vegas
French classics HCA is a timeless French brand founded by Hervé Chiquet 18 years ago. It develops some graphic style guides every year for its best properties, inspired by fashion and contemporary trends. Key properties include Catsline, Dogs & Shapes, Kate-Rose Berry and Tedinours. MGL ready to shine MGL has been busy signing new artists, with painter Russell Cobane – whose portfolio includes landscapes, wildlife and bird paintings – among them. Success stories from last year – Sharon Turner and Art Marketing – will return, lining up alongside Neeti Goswami, whose line drawings are inspired by the Indian art of Mandala. Work from Colin Thompson and Valentina Harper will also be showcased, with the latter already enjoying a successful licensing programme including bedding, toys, colouring books, calendars, stationery and more. Jewel in the crown
Animal magic The Rachael Hale photography property from Dissero Brands has a base of 130 licensees from over 50 countries, and has recently appointed Start Licensing in the UK. The brand comprises 2,500 distinctive and original photos featuring dogs, cats, farm animals and exotics. Start will be looking to develop areas including apparel, wall art, pet accessories, food gifting, exhibitions, promotional and charity partnerships. “Rachael Hale is a well-managed global brand that is very focused on working proactively with licensees,” said Start Licensing md, Ian Downes. The US agent for the property is Jewel Brands.
Busy Jewel will be showcasing a plethora of artists and designers. Those premiering at the show include Collier Campbell, Breathless Paper Company, Vicky Yorke and textile designer Angelle. The company has been busy expanding its portfolio in 2016. Darren Gygi and Rebecca Stoner will both make their Licensing Expo debuts, courtesy of MHS Licensing. President Marty Segelbaum believes they both represent “big opportunities” for manufacturing partners. Painter Darren already owns a production company specialising in canvas wrap wall décor. His full portfolio is available for licensing in categories such as giftables, stationery, kitchen textiles, bedding and bath. Meanwhile, Rebecca creates patterns, illustrations and artwork for a wide variety of products including fabric, homewares, stationery and even laser cut metal.
