naga CuiSine Nagaland is considered as one of the biodiversity hotspots in the world. The State’s topography is rugged and mountainous with only around 8% plain area in Dimapur district. It is considered that the wild edible plants found in the rocky and mountainous areas are more than the cultivated vegetables in Nagaland.
Naga food may not yet be considered haute cuisine but the ingredients are organic and directly derived from the land. Nagas prefer to keep the preparation of their food simple to retain the pure healthy flavours of the ingredients. Most of the food are prepared as stews and are served with rich, fragrant steamed rice and various side dishes.
