Humanism was a philosophical, artistic and cultural movement that emerged in Europe in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, which was based on certain values and practices recovered from Classical Antiquity This movement was characterized, particularly, by an anthropocentric thought that placed the human being as the axis of their concerns, motivations, and desires In this sense, humanism is opposed to medieval theocentrism that operated around the idea of God and monotheistic morality

Humanism originated in Italy in the 15th century with the influence of 14th century authors who defended a return to studies on Greco-Roman ideas and culture Certain historical events contributed to this thought increasing, thanks to the printing press the distribution was facilitated and snatched
Even-tempered and equal to academic texts, another important factor was the creation of great Universities, since humanist ideas and critical thinking had a place from which they could be developed This movement was placed as an access path to the different branches of knowledge commonly reserved for the ecclesiastical canon The studia humanitatis (humanistic studies) consist of a complete training regarding all aspects of man.
Translations of many works lost or only spoken in Latin were made, which allowed the development of different branches of knowledge in depth, such as rhetoric, moral philosophy, history and grammar
