aving not played in the Qualifying Round, Anufryienka burst onto the scene at EuroBasket Women 2007. Since that time, she has never looked back and has continued to produce solid numbers in a Belarus vest. She has also spent a couple of seasons playing in EuroCup Women. Happy pushing the ball down the floor in transition or just looking for an open teammate in the half-court, Anufryienka has become one of the first players Coach Buyalski looks to off the bench. She can also shoot the ball outside and has developed into a capable combo guard who averaged double-digits in EuroCup Women last season.

oach Buyalski was quite clear last year when it came to the role of Katsiaryna Snytsina. He had earmarked the player to be the team leader at the World Championship, but a serious Achilles injury cost Syntsina her chance to participate and ruined her club season. However, she should be back this summer. She plays with a real intensity and shows her emotions at all times. She has a lot of experience despite being only 25-years-old, having won titles at club level and playing in EuroLeague Women. She was second top scorer at the Olympics during 2008 and is always liable to explode in any game offensively.

ne of the main players in recent years for the National Team in the youth categories, Dashkevich has shown her talent on many occasions. A strong minded player who is capable of driving to the hoop or taking outside shots, she also looks like she has the temperament to transfer her skills to the senior team, although she didn’t get an opportunity to play at the World Championship last year. The 1.88m guard/forward averaged 13 points per game with the U20 in Gdynia in 2009 and also won the Championship in Belarus the same year. If selected, she could find a few minutes of court time to show off her high-energy game and ability to contribute in all categories.

Tatsiana DASHKEVICH
hen Yuliya Dureika headed to the World Championship last year she was already a popular figure with her teammates and fans. However her popularity then grew when she exploded for 15 points in the shock win against Russia to cement her place in Belarus basketball folklore. It was also rich reward for the hard work of what has at times been a little bit of a stop-start career due to some frustrating injuries. But after returning home to play her basketball she has shone brightly in recent years and really benefitted from working alongside Coach Buyalski at Horizont. She offers a valuable outside presence and is happy to grab a few vital rebounds too.
