Ho una confessione da farvi: non c’è niente al mondo che io ami di più dei maglioni già appartenuti a qualcun altro. Che siano stati del partner, di un nonno, o che provengano da un vintage shop, i maglioni che sono già stati amati hanno sempre un fascino speciale, irradiano comfort e nostalgia. E Pernille Teisbæk sa di cosa sto parlando. Ancora ragazzina, ha ereditato da suo padre un pull oversize di cashmere grigio che tiene in serbo per la domenica. Pernille, nome pressoché impossibile da pronunciare correttamente, non avrebbe mai immaginato che il suo destino sarebbe stato una carriera nella moda. Viene da una famiglia di dentisti e pensava che ne avrebbe seguito le orme. Fortunatamente, un incontro casuale durante la Copenhagen Fashion Week ha fatto deviare la traiettoria della sua carriera e, di lì a poco, ha abbandonato gli studi di odontoiatria ed è partita con il piede giusto nell’editoria (è anche modella e stylist oltre a gestire il suo fashion blog). I have a confession, there’s nothing I like more than a hand-me-down sweater. Whether it’s from your significant other, your grandfather, or even from a vintage shop, there’s something about a ‘pre-loved’ sweater that just oozes comfort and nostalgia. And Pernille Teisbæk can certainly relate. Growing up, she inherited an oversized grey cashmere sweater from her father that she saves for Sundays. Teisbæk, whose first name is a blank slate for mispronunciation, never thought a career in fashion would be her destiny. In fact, she comes from a lineage of dentists, and she figured she would follow in the same path. Luckily, a chance encounter during Copenhagen Fashion Week altered her career trajectory, and shortly thereafter, she ditched her dental schooling and set forth on the right foot working in publishing (she’s also a model and a stylist in addition to manning her fashion blog). Ho sentito dire che il tuo obiettivo non è sempre stato una carriera nella moda… Prima di diventare stylist, volevo fare la dentista. Tutti nella mia famiglia sono dentisti e pensavo che mi sarebbe piaciuto. Ho studiato odontoiatria per un anno, poi mi sono resa conto che in realtà non era così divertente. Quando è scattato qualcosa in te? È successo durante una lezione. Stavamo facendo un corso in laboratorio con più di 200 persone e io avevo nascosto una rivista di moda tra le pagine del libro. Leggere il magazine era molto più interessante di quello che stava dicendo il professore. Parlami un po’ del tuo blog. Quando l’hai aperto? Due anni fa. Non avrei mai pensato che me ne sarei occupata a livello professionale o che sarebbe diventato tanto importante. È successo tutto in modo molto naturale. Come sei diventata modella? Durante la Copenhagen Fashion Week, avevo 15 anni. Ero con una mia amica quando due tipi strani si sono avvicinati e mi hanno lasciato il loro biglietto da visita. In sostanza è così che è iniziato tutto. Come definiresti l’estetica del tuo styling? Sono una tipica ragazza scandinava. Mi piacciono molto i look minimal e il mio styling ha questo feeling. Adoro i look che abbinano il denim a capi classici. Mi piace giocare con le sovrapposizioni e mixare superfici diverse per rendere interessante l’outfit. I recently heard that it wasn’t always a career in fashion that you wanted to pursue? Before I became a stylist, I wanted to be a dentist. My entire family is comprised of dentists and I thought it would be fun. I actually studied dentistry for a year and then I found out it wasn’t that fun. When did it switch? It switched when I was sitting in a class. We’d have big sessions in a laboratory where there would be like 200 people and I would put a fashion magazine inside my book. I found reading the magazine was way more interesting than what the teacher was saying. Tell me a little bit about your blog. When did you launch it? It was launched two years ago. I never thought I would do it professionally or that it would become such a big thing. It came very naturally. How did you get into modeling? When I was 15, I went to Copenhagen Fashion Week. I was walking around with my friend and these two weirdos came up to me and gave me their business card. That’s basically how it all began. How do you define your aesthetic when it comes to styling? I’m a typical Scandinavian girl. We really like the minimalistic look so my styling has that feeling. I really love all denim looks and classic items being paired together. I like layering and mixing different textures so it’s not boring. I know that people always mispronounce your

Both my first and last names are so difficult to pronounce – they have letters that aren’t even in the English language. How do people pronounce it? Errrr…..Pamela, Prunella sometimes even Candella. It’s crazy. Sometimes I’m just like my name is Pam because it’s so much easier. What are your hobbies? I love yoga and running – both give me a sense of freedom as nobody can contact me when I’m doing these things. They really help to clear my mind. You’re a sweater lover. Do you have any early memories of knits? I have two older cousins who I always looked up to, so whenever they wore something I wanted to wear it too. I remember I got a pink sweatshirt with Minnie Mouse on it from them. I have tons of photos of me wearing it – it’s so 80’s. Even though it got too small I still wore it. I think my mum ‘lost’ it, so that I would stop wearing it. My mum also gave me one of my dad’s old knits which I’ve kept for many years. It’s a very basic grey

Mi piace metterlo la domenica: mi ricorda mio padre. Come descriveresti il tuo stile? Definirei il mio stile tipicamente scandinavo: classico, con un tocco maschile. Non mi piace sembrare troppo sofisticata o elegante. Mi piace giocare con i contrasti per rendere il look più interessante. Che mi dici del tuo approccio nel vestirti? Quali sono le regole a cui sei sempre fedele? “Meno è meglio”. Mi piace mettere cose semplici e aggiungere un tocco di stile con i bijoux. Porto tantissimi bijoux. Anche borsa e scarpe possono fare la differenza. Non sono una fan del make-up: preferisco un look naturale. Il mattino, metto un paio di jeans, un blazer, poi tacchi alti o sneakers e una bella borsa. E sono pronta. Secondo te, cosa rende speciale il tuo stile? Il mio stile è molto semplice. Non esagero mai. Resto sempre me stessa. Ciò che indosso rispecchia la mia personalità. Mi piace apparire spontanea e semplice.

I like stepping out of the bed, pulling my jeans on, throwing on a blazer, then some high shoes or sneakers and a good bag. That makes it for me. What do you think makes your style unique? My style is very simple. I never try too hard. I’m always being myself. The things that I wear are very much ‘me’. I like looking effortless and simple.

Il mio nome e il mio cognome sono difficilissimi da pronunciare: ci sono lettere che in inglese non esistono nemmeno. E come ti chiamano? Ehh… Pamela, Prunella, a volte persino Candella. È incredibile. A volte dico che mi chiamo Pam, così è molto più semplice per tutti. Quali sono i tuoi hobby? Amo lo yoga e la corsa: entrambi mi danno una sensazione di assoluta libertà perché mentre li faccio nessuno può contattarmi. Mi aiutano davvero a sgombrare la mente. Sei un’appassionata di maglioni. Qual è il tuo primo ricordo a riguardo? Ho due cugine più grandi che ho sempre ammirato, per cui, da piccola, qualsiasi cosa si mettessero loro, volevo metterla anch’io. Ho ricevuto da loro una felpa rosa con Minnie. Ho milioni di foto in cui la indosso – è così anni Ottanta! Ho continuato a portarla anche quando mi era diventata piccola. Penso che mia mamma l’abbia “persa” apposta, in modo che smettessi di metterla. Lei mi ha anche dato un vecchio maglione di mio papà: lo conservo da tanti
