“Present your own Work” NATURE: It has always been my greatest inspiration. I love colors, textures, forms and light games. I grew up watching illustrations of enchanted forests and talking animals who had captivated me. I see nature as a starting point for everything else. “Found Treasures” Watercolor 21x29,7 cms Visby, Sweden 2020.

SYMBOLS: Since I was little I was obssesed with symbols. The Crow was a very important one for many cultures, a symbol of the gods, wisdom and death. But also rebirth. As in Chile we don’t have crows I looked to our National Emblem and learned more about the Cóndor and its inmportance to the Anden comunities. To me Scavenders are the continuation of a circle. The dark aspect we fear but is necesary to bring light again. “Scavengers” Watercolor 21x29,7 cms. 21x29,7 cms. 20x20 cms. Quilpué, Chile, 2018

MEMENTO MORI It’s a book written and illustrated by me, based on the interviews I had with different people who work in a field somehow related to Death: lawyers, gravediggers, paramedics, forenscic experts, graveyard sellers, etc. With short stories and poems it gaves a new perspective about Death, creating awereness about this social taboo and turning it into something that is part of our daily lifes.

As part of the protests of October of 2019, many artists portraited the violence on the streets and the brutal response of policemen. Instead, I wanted to focus on the Unity of people who was fighting for their rights over their own differences. This painting was published later as part of the book “18.10: Visual Reflection of the social outbreak in Chile” from ed. NautaColecciones, Santiago de Chile, 2020. You can download the book for free at: https://nautacolecciones.com Watercolor, 21x15,5 cms. Quilpué, Chile. 2019

“Longing” In 2014 the famous “Vergara Dock,“ an icon of Viña del Mar City, was left abandoned after a fire and many years of political promeses of restauration. I dedicated myself to study the story of the dock, which happens to be also the history of the city: an industralized past turned into a turistic present and leaded to an uncertain future. Based on an old photo of the restoration of the dock in 1983 I took the image of a person looking at the famous crane and print it on a trimmed trovicel of 2.20 meters high, supported with the help of a structure. I put it in front of the real dock and stayed there a whole day spreading postcards with the original photo and with some important information about the story of the dock. The most valuable experience was the chance to connect with people of the city who has created a personal bond with the dock. They shared with me their memories and together we rised awareness about the preservation of our heritage and the ways we relate with our city. The same year the restoration processes started and it was open again to public in 2016.

“¿Can Art Change The World?” My Work as an Art Teacher “In some ways art can change the world. I mean, Art is not supposed to change the world, to change practical things, but to change perceptions. Art can change the way we see the world. Art can create an analogy. Actually the fact that Art cannot change things makes it a neutral place for exchanges and dicussions, and then enables you to change the world.” J.R. - Artist, Ted Talk, 2011

Maybe I didn’t make this pieces of art by myself, but I like to think it was a collaborative work, where I teached the students and they have teached me. I proposed challenges to them and they discover something new in themselfs. Some of them had never took a needle before and ended with beautiful tapestries. Sometimes one of them spill some paint or use a rare combibation of colors and that gives me new ideas for my own work. I do not have a classroom, I have a workshop where we all create art together. It is a safe space to create dialogue.

HUMANAE Based on Angelica Dass project “Humanae,“ students from different levels discover the variety of “skin colors,“ creating their own self-portraits, opening a dialogue about the richness of diversity and tolerance. It was used as scenography for school acts.

EXPLORING AND DISCOVERING Students learn how to create paint from natural pigments, how to make a mosaic from waste products and to rescue old weaving techniques from our acestors to express a modern messages of diversity and inclussion. In classes students will not only learn about art history and learn specific techniques, they will develop skills that will help them in any other aspect of their lifes such as creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, self expression, tolerance to frustration, and so much more. At the same time they open their minds and their hearts to the otherness of a rich world full of diversity. TEXTILES TO SAVE THE WORLD: Kids from 8th grade make themself consciouss about the textil industry and their process. They learn new techniques such as embroidery and patchwork, and realize the different expressive options this allows as an artistic language. They created this pieces to promote caring for the planet and its natural ressources. Wool, cotton, fabric, burlap, paint, glue. Embroidery, patchwork and paiting. Hispano School, Villa Alemana, Chile. 2017

ART & NATURE: Consciousness in Action: Younger generations can identify more brand logos than species of their own ecosystems. To change this, kids from 8th grade investigated about endangered animals in their own country, they created statues of them using recycled materials and created information sheets which they exposed in the school hall. Recycled materials. Hispano School, Villa Alemana, Chile. 2019
