Program: Analysis of Milford Towers designed by Owen Luder.
Description: In 2016, a then KU professor, Jared Macken, had reached out to ask for assistance in creating drawings for his PhD at ETH Zurich. The thesis examined ‘Town Center’ typology with a particular focus on Owen Luder’s projects. The interest in these projects stemmed from their ability to ‘link’ into the existing city and even mimic the aggregate forms and lives of the city itself in a miniature scale. The particular focus of this analysis was attempting to understand how the individual parts (characters) such as stairwells, walkways, balconies, awnings, and gardens came together in such a way that they created the ambiance of a city within a city.
Roles: Collected all any relevant images of the Town Center from the internet and used these to generate a 3D model to then cross-reference to a site-plan. This model needed to be highly detailed as examination was happening at the scale of handrails to surrounding context. Once the model was finished, my focus shifted to creating drawings, primarily axonometrics.
