Matthew McCormick Studio is a multi-disciplinary design house based in Vancouver, Canada, known for their distinctive lighting collection and bespoke, artistic installations as seen across the globe. Founded by Matthew McCormick in 2013, the Studio rose to notoriety after the launch of their Halo Series which to this day remains a signature piece within the expanded product line.

Today, the Studio is proud to design, manufacture and distribute McCormick’s pieces to clients around the world, in addition to creating a selection of bespoke projects and installations under the Studio’s briefcase banner - a concept designed to explore new creative territory through innovation and discovery, unbound by typical convention.

Designed in Vancouver and created by a talented network of select manufacturing partners both locally and across the globe, Matthew McCormick Studio is committed to bringing the best in craftsmanship to every hand-touched piece.

CASCADIA

Cascadia C33 | Brushed Brass

An homage to nature and its effortless beauty, the Cascadia pendant takes its name from the Canadian Cascades’ white-capped mountain range and organic flow of waterways. The distinctive opaline glow of Cascadia’s proprietary, hand-created LED glass retainers and solid brass fitting hides its technical precision through an aesthetic of simplicity and a pureness in design. Cascadia is a modular pendant system that provides an array of possibility, making a grand statement in any space.

MILA

A labour of love, Mila was realized through the marriage of hand-blown artisan glass balanced with the soft geometry of its delicately bent form. Simple and elegant, the glow of Mila’s pearl-like spheres hang in beautiful harmony within nests of precious metal. A timeless and elegant piece, Mila is ideal in both commercial and domestic settings, defined by McCormick’s signature graphic language.

Originally conceived as a graphical interpretation of effervescence, Halo is a series of bold lamps inspired by the warm glow of the proprietary LED ring luminaire, each housed in hand-finished casing with a jewel-like finish. The modular system allows for Halo pendants to be suspended in a multitude of compositions, akin to a sophisticated, hanging art installation both illuminated and at rest.

LABRA

Labra is an exploration of stone as nature’s art, hand-chiseled and carefully shaped to perfection by masters in their craft. Honouring the rich materiality of European alabaster, Labra is a wall-mounted LED fixture and ornamental statement piece that stands the test of time. Carved with delicate precision, the solid stone block is perfectly moulded to an intentional inner curve - inspired by the palpable energy felt between two forms, just moments before they touch.

Often compared to the intricacies of ornate jewelry, the Dawn chandelier is aesthetically refined from every angle and vantage point. Organic in feel and sporadic in nature, the fixture gleans a meticulously hand-polished finish and a system which can be specified in any number of configurations. Dawn’s hand-created, proprietary glass LED retainers exude a perfectly soft, gradation of light, elevating any space with an ambient illumination.

Honouring the signature attributes of the Mila pendant series, the Mila wall sconce is the long-awaited extension to the timeless product line. Lauding the subtlety in detail that makes the light so special, the Mila Sconce is a delicately balanced fixture that feels impossibly hung on its wall-mounted hub. A stunning backdrop in an entryway, hallway or as a beautiful accent to a feature wall, the Mila Sconce offers a tranquil radiance in both commercial and domestic settings.

LINE LIGHT

Distilled to its purest form, Line Lights are precision CNC milled from a solid piece of thoughtfully selected wood and hand-finished to a fine plainness. Showcasing the piece’s natural grain with a thoughtful consideration to proportion, Line Lights feel at home as a standalone pendant, appropriate for task lighting above a desk or kitchen island, or arranged into a number of striking contemporary compositions as the statement piece in any space.

DODECA

Dodeca, a nod to the Greek word for 12, is a contemporary chandelier forged with facets that interact wonderfully with its ambient light - a seemingly counterintuitive balance against the more industrial, inner band of illumination. Using high density, high output LEDs, it is a fixture known for coming to life when turned on and an equally striking sculpture at rest.
