From New York Summer is finally on. In New York City is surely the period in the year when streets and crossroads are congested by pedestrians because of the number of tourists who come to visit from all over the world. But Summer is also the time when locals can enjoy the most their hometown and the many many outdoor spaces that the City offers throughout the five boroughs. Central Park and Bryant Park become the main point of reference in New York thanks to the many activity that take place there: concerts, movies, Shakespeare's plays, street artists and all kinds of live performances. Famous Coney Island area, with iconic attraction and famous bars, comes to life and is living a second youth after the massive renovations made as a consequence of the damages caused by hurricane Sandy. Moreover at Coney Island in June two major traditional New York facts take place: first the Mermaid Parade, where people have fun dressing up as - of course - pirates and mermaids, but also as drunk mariners and parrots! Second the famous hot dog eating contest held by Nathan's, the most renowned and traditional hot dog place in New York. Young people instead enjoy the many indie concerts around the City, as the “Governor Ball” on Governor Island, and fill up the playgrounds as just sport lovers or in some of the many summer leagues. About us, as your Live in New York Staff, on this issue we continue to bring you among some of the rarest gems of daily New York life, such as the Global Short Film Award and the Kentucky Derby party, and to present and promote Italian Excellence in New York. Our hottest article this month is the exclusive interview of Italian Producer Marco Belardi, who has recently become a huge sensation after the remarkable and great success of his latest production "Perfetti Sconosciuti", that has won at the last world renowned TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL the award for Best Foreign Movie. L'estate è finalmente arrivata. A New York e sicuramente il periodo dell'anno dove le strade e gli incroci sono congestionati dai passanti Per via dei numerosi turisti che vengono a visitare la città da tutto il mondo. Ma l'estate e anche il periodo in cui i residenti possono godere al meglio della loro città e dei numerosissimi spazi all'aperto che New York offre sparse per tutte le cinque municipalità. Central Park e Bryant Park sono diventati i punti di riferimento a New York grazie alle numerose attività che si svolgono: concerti, film, opere di Shakespeare, artisti di strada e ogni altro tipo di spettacolo dal vivo. La famosa area di Coney Island, con le sue iconiche attrazioni e i famosi bar, prende vita e oggi vive una seconda giovinezza dopo le massicce ristrutturazioni attuate per i danni causati dall'uragano Sandy. Inoltre a Coney Island in giugno si svolgono 23 maggiori eventi tradizionali di New York: il primo è la parata della sirena, dove le persone si divertono vestendosi con costumi ovviamente di pirati e sirene, ma anche da marinai ubriachi e pappagalli! Secondo evento è il famoso concorso di mangiata di Hot Dog che si tiene presso Nathan's, il ristorante di Hot Dog più famoso e conosciuto di New York. I giovani invece preferiscono i numerosi concerti di musica indipendente che si svolgono per tutta la città, come il Governor Ball sulla isola Governor, e riempiono i campi da gioco sia come semplici amanti dello sport sia in uno dei numerosi campionati estivi amatoriali. Per quello che riguarda noi, il tuo team newyorkese di Live in, in questo numero continuiamo a portarti tra alcune delle più rare gemme della vita quotidiana newyorkese, come il Global Short Movie Award e la festa per il Kentucky Derby, ed a presentare e promuovere l'eccellenza italiana a New York.
