International competition Project Leader with JDS Architects Conference, auditorium, gallery / 6800 m2 Role: supervision, concept design, plans, 3D modelling, rendering http://jdsa.eu/cdc/ The Palace of Congress is the Agora of Charleroi: it will host large political, commercial and societal encounters. It will accommodate a great variety of activities, requiring programmatic and functional flexibility. Our project is grounded in this idea of programmatic multiplicity, based on what we know about present needs and potential futures.

The project is conceived as an urban landscape enclosed within a permeable structural grid of columns. It provides a dynamic new public space which creates continuity between the existing Palaces of Exhibition and of the Beaux-Arts and the central square.

Ada Kwiatkowska, PhD The VAS project is an attempt to create an adaptable, public installation, that will serve the local communities by activatingthe forgotten housing courtyards in Wroclaw, Poland.

This replicable, structure is designed to give a meaning to useless empty walls of sourounding town houses.

Instalation has two main functional aspects. From one hand it serves as a storage space and infrastructural core for the inhabitants and from the other, provide spaces for meeting, leisure and other various social activities.

arch. D. Dziubiński, PhD Conceptual and research project focused on informal marketplace Swiebodzki in Worclaw, Poland.

The aim was to find a solution for the future development of this part of the city without removing existing marketplace function and character.

The project struggle to mantain it informal and spontanous character by designig urban framework. Framework/pattern based on the research and morphology of the existing marketplace that would allow various possible muatations of its structure and further natural growth.

MCPW Musem of Contemporary Photography Museum, workshops, studio University Project TU Wroclaw 2012 PL Museum, workshop and educational space located in Wroclaw, Poland. It’s program is dedicated to exhibit large scale photography and pracitce digital and analog techniques of photography.

MCPW is an infill building with a transformable facade.

Vast, 20m hight void that penetrate half of the building space, serve as a photogrpahy studio and temporary exhibition space. Giant, sliding gate enable to fully open it to the public- allowing trespass, decreseing the scale of the building and most importantly, blending the city life with the rythm of this instutuion.

CHAUSSEE DE CHARELROI Design Project Leader - JDS Architects Redesign of the former office building into a mixed-use housing typology Role: concept design, modelling, rendering Redesign, refurbishment and extension of an seven storey office building, in Brussels, into a mixed use apartment block. Include planning of the new appartments, facade design, addition of the penthouse floor and landscape design.

Project is based on alternate extension of the facade to obtain new rythm, views and tarraces. Rythm of both facades is followed in plan on the roof by divisions of tarraces, roof gardens and in the courtyard by tectonic, tarraced landscape.

The proposal have two main elements. The garden and the tower.

The garden is a flexible cut-out field of the Miscanthus grass- energy crops. It grow up to 4 meters high and can be harvested two times a year. It gives possibility to create incredible number of functional patterns- spaces for citizens and visitors in it like- event spaces, playgrounds, galleries, markets, mazes, even spatial advertisements.

On the end of the park is located the square with. The plaza with the wooden steps give easy access to the water and up the installation to the view point. Thanks to the covering the tower with the „elastic belts� which under the influence of the wind set themselves in motion, the perspective during the way to the top is constantly changing.

Role: supervision, concept design, plans, 3D modelling, rendering

Our approach was based on historical context of the site. By tracing the historical layers we created a collage of qualites and compositions that was charactersitic for this part of the city. We used the composition of medieval fortifications to create a composition that would „stich” boths sides back together in a formal and functional way. Additionaly, we recreated the tree bulevards that was charecteristic in XIX century. At the end we introduced landmarks bridge and tribune that would animate public space.

Invited Competition Housing urban block/ 21000 m2 Role: supervision, concept design, 3D modelling, rendering How to generate an urban block that is both well defined and open?

How to accommodate a wide range of inhabitants spanning from young singles to families and infuse a will to live together? How can a building contribute to biodiversity?

We believe that we should make cities capable of integrating nature so that the continuum of biodiversity is re-established through an urban framework. By offering nature back on the urban housing market we might naturally attract more of our future population to our cities.

Furthermore we believe that the high density of the brief requires an alternative way of thinking outdoor spaces. By creating a lively roofscape, injected by programs and activities, we provide amazing views onto the surroundings and the city centre, while encouraging social encounters and neighbourhood life.

Mateusz Gora was employed as a Student Intern at ECDM from 27/06/2012 to 28/09/2012.

Mateusz Gora was exposed to a diversity of projects varying in concept and scale during his time at ECDM. He worked on a large scale for these projects. Mateusz contributed to these projects during the Design Development phase sketching concept designs, researching materials and creating presentation models for the project’s most complex and vital features. Alternatively, he also gained experience working on smaller scaled projects.

At ECDM, Mateusz worked extremely well within a team as well as independently. He was a dedicated team member, consistently exhibiting a clear understanding of the project and demonstrating good judgment and reliability. He regularly employed excellent communication skills, asking important questions and offering constructive suggestions. Likewise, his presentations are articulate and compelling. His ability to respond and perform both to unexpected challenges under a tremendous pressure has been invaluable.
