At MasteryPrep, we believe every student can score college ready on the ACT And we do mean EVERY student. As of 2017, almost 90% of students in low-income communities graduate high school without a college-ready ACT score. At MasteryPrep, our goal is to help these students boost their scores using targeted, engaging test-prep materials that emphasize remediation and subject mastery. We have provided hundreds of schools and school districts across the country with an arsenal of teacher-friendly tools that are easily customized to fit their budgets, schedules, and student skill levels. Education is capable of lifting students out of poverty and opening them up to a new world of opportunities. When given access to education, every child has the opportunity to gain the confidence, experience, and potential to broaden his or her horizons. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT An ACT Boot Camp for teachers: Decoding the ACT Decoding the ACT is the ultimate one-day professional development course for boosting ACT scores. In this course, teachers will learn to understand what the ACT measures and how it is scored. The Decoding the ACT guide provides teachers with strategies for incorporating test-taking skills into their everyday core curriculum and for motivating students to succeed on the ACT and in academics in general. Using our three pillars of mastery, teachers are equipped to prepare every student to achieve a college-ready score on the ACT.
The Three Pillars of Mastery Time Mastery introduces the concept of time management and provides proven techniques for improving students’ ability to handle timed tests. Test Mastery covers fundamental test-taking strategies applicable to all subject areas on the ACT and provides a foundation for all subject specific test-taking strategies found in the Decoding the ACT book. Content Mastery provides a framework for the content remediation strategies that boost ACT outcomes and prepares teachers to make the most of the content strategies provided later in the book for each test section.
Product training
Half-day, on-site program This program is designed for teachers who will be using the ACT Mastery program in the classroom. In this half-day session, a MasteryPrep trainer orients teachers to the ACT Mastery curriculum and instructs them how best utilize all of the program’s tools to improve student outcomes. Furthermore, our trainer reviews essential content and test-taking strategies that teachers should particularly emphasize. We also offer training for using the digital features of the ACT Mastery program. This includes MasteryPrep Online, which provides access to digital presentations and practice questions, and TruScore, which provides detailed practice test reports.

TRUSCORE TESTING AND ANALYSIS ACT Practice Testing and Analysis
Actionable data teachers can use in the classroom When teachers are asked to improve their students’ ACT scores, what should they focus on first? The answer to that question is different for each class and for each student. MasteryPrep provides all necessary test documents for a no-hassle practice test administration. The online platform scores students’ answer sheets and generates action-oriented reports, giving insight into each student’s strengths and weaknesses. TRUSCORE TESTING AND ANALYSIS Beautiful reports that provide value When teachers understand what subject and skill areas a class is struggling with and why, they can construct a more effective plan of attack to prepare their students for the ACT. With our heat map, teachers are able to see the “hot” and “cold” areas where students are lagging or excelling. The heat map also addresses students’ testing stamina and their ability to stay motivated during the more difficult portions of the ACT. Combined with ACT Mastery, this analysis allows teachers to adjust each lesson to meet students’ specific needs. For example, if students need time management training, they will receive more practice questions to facilitate strengthening that particular skill.
Access granted With the TruScore online platform, teachers can easily review score reports via desktop computers and mobile devices. Printable PDFs allow teachers to easily share results with a classroom or with administrators. This information helps teachers understand in which skill areas their students need the most help while monitoring student progress as lessons unfold.

Workbooks covering each of the four subjects tested on the ACT guide students to a thorough understanding of the fundamental skills needed to succeed on the ACT.

ACT ELEMENTS Student workbooks With ACT Elements, students can achieve better ACT scores in just five minutes a day. ACT Elements is a classroom warm-up program designed for both middle school and high school students that provides grade-level appropriate exercises that reinforce essential ACT College Readiness Standards. Each week features a series of exercises related to a specific ACT College Readiness Standard, culminating in student proficiency. With 5-10 minute warmups each day, ACT Elements reduces the amount of time dedicated to explanations while still fostering student progress. Our program includes English, math, reading, and science workbooks for middle school and high school levels. East Feliciana Public Schools began their implementation of MasteryPrep materials with Decoding the ACT, our oneday professional development course that provides teachers with strategies for effectively teaching students the skills needed to succeed on the ACT. From there, core-subject teachers incorporated the ACT Mastery curriculum into their classrooms and non-core teachers used ACT Elements bell ringers to provide students with daily exposure to ACT prep. Schools also held one-day ACT Boot Camps for juniors and seniors in need of last-minute prep before taking the ACT. With this commitment and dedication to their students, East Feliciana Public Schools raised their average ACT composite from 17.1 to 19.2 in just two years.

Lee County delivered ACT Boot Camps to all of its students in classroom-sized groupings in the 2015-16 school year. As a result, its two high schools saw large increases in college readiness benchmark attainment. The school district increased from 48.0% to 57.7% of students achieving proficiency and achieved a district-wide composite score increase of +0.7 points. This increase occurred even though no significant increases occurred in EOC or WorkKeys performance, which allows us to conclude that gains were programmatically correlated and not tied to cohort performance fluctuations.

Became an A-rated school for the first time ever Pineville High School delivered ACT Boot Camps to its junior and senior classes each year for three consecutive years. Each year, the school made significant progress towards its ACT goals. In 2013, Pineville’s ACT score was 20.4. This increased to 20.9 in 2014, to 21 in 2015, and finally to 21.3 in 2016. The school was honored with an A state ranking for the first time in its history in 2016.
