PLANTING CHECK
Level hitch and toolbar
Ensure that all boxes are level and planting at uniform depth
Check drive tires carrying unit tire height Check all chains and sprockets and grease all fittings (oil chains for smooth seed drops) Check brushes in finger pickup unit Check meters for consistency and/or obstructions
Ensure that pesticide boxes are in working order, and application meters are set properly Check and fill proper fertility tanks
Check meter belts for wear or cracks Check hydraulic lines and fittings Check row openers, debris wheels, and closing wheels for damage Ensure planting monitor is in working order Check seed tubes for wear and potential build up near bottom of tube Check and re-check planting depth
During first pass check seed spacing and seed depth Over the course of planting, periodically check to ensure all corn is planted uniformly, regardless of field conditions Check closing wheels to ensure alignment behind seed and not compacting it
