We are the music makers; it is our gift that we give to ourselves and to others. It is our calling. It is a necessity and our responsibility to the community. We will always make music— somehow, no matter what happens. During this time there are many questions and many unknowns, but this will always be our answer.

From our President Eva Johnson
On behalf of the Master Chorale of Flagstaff ’s Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you to our 2021-2022 Season, Lift Every Voice! Thank you for your support of our organization, and of the arts community in Flagstaff. We are thrilled to be able to share with you the emotion, passion, connection, and healing that music has brought to each of us. Along with the rest of the world, the members of the Master Chorale of Flagstaff (MCF) and Arizona Mountain Chorale (AMC) experienced a complete upheaval in 2020. Thankfully, under the leadership of the Board of Directors, President Larry McFatter, Artistic Director Jason Drahos, and with the endless help of our Business Manager Jody Laura, we were able to bravely transition to an interactive and engaging virtual season. MCF hosted multiple virtual concerts including “Singing in the Season” in December and “Songs of Joy” in late Spring, while also collaborating with new and ongoing partners in our community. Our virtual performance of Rachmaninov’s beautiful “Bogoroditse Devo” was released late last fall and then shared during one of Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra’s virtual concerts. In a new collaboration, Master Chorale, Flagstaff Community Band, and Orchestra Northern Arizona produced the virtual celebration “Music at Home for the Holidays”. These virtual performances produced many positive resources - one of the most touching benefits being that they provided a way for family and friends from all over the world to feel a connection at a time when the pandemic was causing most to feel more disconnected than ever. The 2020-2021 season culminated in an early July performance, “Land that I Love”, outdoors under cloudy skies, with the Flagstaff Community Band. It was a glorious day, and the community came out in force! As we look forward to this new season, the MCF and AMC are filled with hope and optimism for new opportunities, building on what we have learned when faced with significant challenges. While our daily surroundings and actions are still far from “routine”, we hope you will find what you need through the music we bring you this year - joy, calm, resilience, familiarity, and innovation. I invite you to celebrate with us this season and thank you for continuing to remain adaptable as we continue to navigate how best to keep our audiences and musicians safe. The 2021-2022 season will conclude with many of our members attending the Dublin Choral Festival in June with choirs from all over the world, featuring Dr. Edith Copley as Artistic Director. The Master Chorale would like to thank the many people who make each season a success: our generous donors and sponsors; tireless staff; the choir participants, who not only sing so beautifully but also serve on committees to make this organization function; and so many behind-the-scenes supporters. I would like to thank my fellow Board members for their guidance and leadership. Finally, we couldn’t do any of this without you, our loving audience. Please visit our website, www.masterchorale.net, to stay apprised of the most up-to-date information about our concerts, upcoming opportunities to connect with Master Chorale of Flagstaff, donation/sponsorship information, contact information, and any updates about this exciting season. Our deepest appreciation to all of you for your interest and support.
