Popular with the people

A stand-out architectural home in Buddina on the Sunshine Coast has taken out 2021 People’s Choice honours.

A unique home that the builder, Grant McDonald Homes say they were completely thrilled to be involved with from the design stage, the stunning and modern design also took out the Sunshine Coast’s House of the Year and Individual Home from $750,000 up to $950,000 awards. It’s the second time the local builder has won People’s Choice, having bagged it in 2019 for their work on Allan Residence. Capturing breathtaking ocean views across three levels, Pacific House epitomises Sunshine Coast living. This distinctive home perfectly unifies natural materials including glass, stone, and timber to create the ultimate coastal family retreat. The solid timber pivot entry doors create a welcoming and impressive entrance, and lead to a four bedroom plus study home luxuriously spread over three levels. Beneath the feature skylights, the gourmet kitchen, butler’s pantry and main living area open onto the east-facing alfresco, overlooking the magnesium glass pebbled pool. The living space boasts a two-way fireplace nestled inside a brick feature wall, while upstairs the stunning bedrooms and study boast select-grade blackbutt flooring and those stunning views. With additional environmentally friendly features including solar power, heat pump hot water, solar powered LED downlights, tinted lifestyle glazing, this home ticks so many boxes. The build proved challenging, mainly due to the tough coastal environment and rolling surf directly across the road, but the Grant McDonald Homes team overcame the conditions to deliver a stunning home. Complete with oversized garage with boat storage, some unique features, like touch button lights and fans, intercom system and piped sound, plus masses of storage space, what’s not to love?
