The City Council meets for Work Sessions the 1st Monday each month, with Regular Meetings the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month. Meetings are 7 p.m. in City Hall, 2nd Floor, 1049 State Ave. Council does not meet in August.

Between January and March 2012, the Marysville City Council took action more than 75 agenda items. Below are highlights from their deliberations. JANUARY

◆ Approved a nine-year contract with Waste Management NW to continue providing curbside residential and commercial collection of recyclables, yard waste, processing, marketing and disposal services. The contract includes franchise fee and rate lock provisions, as well as a twoyear option extension. WM also leased a long-term facility in north Marysville south of 136th that will employ 45-50 people. ◆ Authorized Mayor to sign a Coordinated Prevention Grant between the City 36

and state Department of Ecology. The $48,736 grant is intended to increase recycling provisions for multi-family and commercial customers. The City will provide some in-kind services of about $16,000 to support the proposed 20122013 Waste Reduction and Recycling Outreach Assistance and Education Program activities. ◆ Authorized a Professional Services Agreement between the City and Blue Marble Environmental LLC for Consultant Purposes.

◆ Award a $86,014 contract to Tacomabased Totem Electric for an LED Lighting Retrofit project. The project will retrofit 81 existing streetlights with cost and energy-efficient LED lights ◆ Authorized the Mayor to sign a grant-in-aid agreement with Snohomish County Human Services Division of Long-Term Care and Aging program for $11,000. The grant will offset some personnel costs for an existing part-time clerk position at the Ken Baxter Community Center.

MARCH ◆ Passed a resolution encouraging citizens to show support and compassion for victims of the month’s destructive tornadoes and flooding in the South and Midwest, which included the obliteration of Marysville, Ind., by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid storm victims. ◆ The Mayor issued a proclamation celebrating the 100 anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA. ◆ Authorized the Mayor to award a $92,886 contract with Skycorp, LTD for cleanup of the Crown Pacific site downtown along Ebey waterfront on the east side of SR 529, which has been in use by the City. The project is being funded in part by an EPA Brownsfield grant.
