Founded in 2005, Mary Burns main branded product, the Salford Star has won many awards including How-Do Magazine of the Year and the Plain English Campaign's Best Regional Newspaper of the Year. Mary Burns was also UnLimited's Millennium Award Winner in 2006. "The project enjoys immense community support and has won accolades from the Guardian, Private Eye and others for its pioneering work" stated UnLimited's judges. The company accepts commissions to create specific community interest magazines, complete with editorial, photos, graphics, layout, printing and distribution. Mary Burns is involved in all aspects of community communication, producing magazines, online media and event publicity, together with specific media projects for young people and adults. The company also provides work experience and training for the community, helping to inform, entertain and give people a voice in the wider society.
