Remembering Ourselves Home There are times in our life when we can become disconnected from our essential-self. It’s amazing how quickly we can forget who we truly are; what matters the most to us and what our essential life’s purpose is guiding us towards. Whether through periods of stress, relationship problems, loss of a loved one or a job, ill health or injury, it is easy to lose contact with who we really are at our deepest core. In these times we can feel ungrounded and rootless, literally as if we are floating outside of our bodies. We are then also likely to feel further stressed and sometimes pain or illness can set in, as we struggle to cope with life and all its challenges while not being securely grounded and at home in ourselves. We can also experience a loss of power at times like this. Shamans refer to this literally as “power loss” and sometimes also “soul loss”. During these times out confidence levels drop and we lack the zest and strength we previously felt. We’re reluctant to tackle challenges or anything potentially further stressful and we might retreat from the world a little more until we have regained our power.
