NEW ZEALAND TAXI FEDERATION (NZTF) OBJECTIVE
The Federation is an apolitical group that has been representing the Taxi Industry within New Zealand since 1938. Through its relationships with key stakeholders such as the media, NZTA, the Ministry of Transport and National Government it provides the “voice” of the industry for a wide range of topics and is the first point of reference for all issues related to Taxis within New Zealand.

When a new national initiative or view point is required, the NZTF is the first to be called. This has resulted in us having a fundamental say over a number of topics, including the following: Total Mobility scheme – A Federation led initiative that provides funding to those unable to use public transport for everyday activities. In car Cameras – the installation of cameras in cars has seen a 40% decrease in serious assaults on drivers as well as an increase in prosecutions against drivers convicted of assault. 2015 SPSV Review – advocating for a level playing field for all operators engaged in the transportation of passengers.
REGIONAL & LOCAL ISSUES
Taxis are a fundamental part of the Public Transport network even though they are not subsidised nor actively considered in much of the planning procedure. As a result the Federation is often called to add weight in regional discussions: The importance of Taxis in transporting our most vulnerable citizens. How better planning for Taxis results in improved city centres, shopping experiences and safety. Understanding the complete package that a Taxi company offers. Providing examples of other areas to enrich the knowledge of council and allow for better decision making.

Time and time again, when stakeholders, media and the general public want to engage with the industry the Federation is their first point of call. That means our members are always up to date with the latest news, ideas and opportunities to hit the market. Being one step ahead is crucial when looking to shape the industry.

There is no size criterion for joining the Federation. Our members range from a single vehicle to 700+ cars. The philosophy of your company is what’s important and whether you are truly looking to provide a consistently excellent service to your customers or just trying to make money. Our larger members dominate in their markets not only because they set and push the benchmark of excellence but also because they sustain this level year after year. For our smaller members, it is a source of pride that they can be recognised as providing a similar service within different market situations. The Federation strongly believes that this attitude towards compliance, service and safety is recognised by the travelling public and is non-negotiable. We also understand that it is a huge cost on any business and not all companies are convinced of its benefits.

The annual Federation fee structure has been set at $92.50 per vehicle for the last 10 years with a discount structure for size displayed below.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
The Federation has a history of working closely with some of New Zealand’s leading companies to provide nationwide discounts and tangible benefits to drivers. Our website contains a list of the discounts offered to members.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN
To join the Federation you need to fulfil the following requirements: The company must have been in business for at least one year. Complete and return the application form below. Submit to a full audit by the Federation’s CEO and a current Branch member from within your region. Be accepted by the Board of Directors on the basis of the above.
We have also introduced a prompt payment schedule designed to suit every company’s cash flow.
