Welcome to Lyric Lounge Leicester 2015! Come for the whole day or dip in and out of workshops and performances designed to celebrate the very best of poetry and spoken word in the East Midlands! Workshop: Performance Poetry with Deborah ‘Debris’ Stevenson 10.30am – 12.30pm Free but booking required

Deborah has taught performance poetry skills across the world – this is your chance to spend time in the company of one of the region’s most inspiring young artists. 14+

Performance: Living for the City 1.30 – 2.30pm

An exploration of city life and sounds in the East Midlands through a hand-picked soundtrack of poetry and spoken word presented by Andrew ‘Mulletproof’ Graves, Panya Banjoko, Joe Coghlan and Spice (Jo-Anne Blackwood), with music by DJ Psykhomantus. Produced by renaissanceone.

A Thousand Paper Birds 11am – 4.00pm

Drop in and make your own origami wordy-bird with local story-teller Hema Acharya. Find her under the Charnwood Arts story-telling tree!

Head to the Park Stage for an hour packed full of catchy children’s songs and toe-tapping tunes from award-winning songwriter, David Gibb.

Hear new work from Curve Young Writers and sign up to one of the ten open mic slots to share your work with our family audience.

Join participants from Lydia Towsey’s Writing for Performance course as they try out new work and the skills they’ve learned.

Come and help David make some new songs, and maybe perform them with him later, in this fun workshop. For children & their families.

John Berkavitch is one of the UK’s most respected voices in spoken word. Join him to explore how movement can give texture to your narrative and change the pace of your performance.

Nottingham’s Mouthy Poets unpack their suitcase for the last time as Lyric Lounge hosts the final show of their UK tour. Join this exciting poetry collective, with guest John Berkavitch, for their unique blend of poetry, film and music. Suitable for age 14+.
