Dogs are members of the family and to make sure that every family member can create the best Martinhal memories we would like to share a few rules to remember to create the best “pawsam” experience. In this pet guide you will find some information and tips as well as advice on how to behave at Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort to spend a relaxing and harmonious holiday with your four-legged friend and other guests can also enjoy their stay.

BOOK YOUR “PAWSOME” FAMILY STAY

We have dedicated a selection of bay houses in Martinhal Sagres for stays with dogs and with fenced and private areas to provide the best conditions for your companions. In consideration of all our other guests we only welcome dogs with good manner who know how to behave during holidays. To gather more information about your fourlegged family member we kindly ask the pet owner to provide some information during the booking process of your accommodation:

• All dogs need to be registered during the reservation process prior to arrival. Kindly provide what kind of dog will join your family stay – limited to dogs only, breed, weight, age and name.

• Pet owners sign a declaration to confirm being aware of our pet rules while staying at Martinhal Sagres

• Each dog will have an extra charge of 35€ per night per pet. This includes the Pet Welcome pack. No food included

• To keep our Hygiene level high for all guests we will be cleaning our pet friendly houses with special anti-allergic products and special attention by the housekeeping team will be given by vacuum cleaning the houses

• Pet owners kindly provide a valid mobile contact to our Family Concierge Team for any emergencies.

• A maximum of 2 dogs per house will be authorized

• We advise pet owners to bring the loved beds, carriers or toys which will help your pooch feel comfortable in the holiday home. For dogs that are used to sleeping in a carrier don’t hesitate to bring this with you. Our houses are spacious and it might help, keeping your pet happy & comfortable.

THERE ARE RULES FOR THE DOGS TO REMEMBER DURING THEIR STAY

DOGS IN PUBLIC AREAS

• Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in any children facilities, public indoor spaces, swimming pools and restaurants.

• Even if your companion is a master of good manners, please keep your dog always on a leash on the entire resort grounds. We fell this is a kind gesture in consideration to our other guests and especially our little guests. Therefore, leash is compulsory at any time.

DOG EXCREMENT DISPOSAL

• Please make sure that the lawns in the resort stay clean and you have sufficient poop bags with you, when you take your dog for a walk and make sure that no territory will be marked.

• We have installed special dog waste stations around the dedicated accommodation areas. Pet owners are responsible at any time to use them and help this way of keeping our resort clean and hygienic.

DOG IN THE HOUSE

• Whenever possible dogs should not be left alone in the house but if for any reason this happens just for a short while, pet owners need to make sure that no barking or will disturb other guests.

• We provide sleeping blankets for your pooch and therefore there is no need for dogs to sit on the hotel furniture or beds.

• Our cleaning ladies love animals, but as they are not familiar with your pet it is required that the pet owner will be present during the daily cleaning or make sure pets are secured in their carrier during the cleaning of the house.

• The pet owners should use the information sign and leave it outside the door, to help the cleaning ladies entering the house. This way neither the dog nor our staff will be frightened.

DOG SERVICES

• Our resort market “Mercado Deli & Bake” offers a selection of pet food and toys. But to keep consistency of your pet nutrition, we advise the dog owners to bring the favourite food for your 4-legged friend to keep them well and to their routines.

DOG SITTING

• 10€ per hour with a minimum of 1 hour charge

Your 4-legged friends deserve a special treat for lunch or dinner? Our chefs are dedicated to healthy food for everybody and have created a very special dog gourmet menu to order in advance

TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR DOG VISITS

• The management reserves the right to ask the guest to cover any monetary compensation resulting of official complaints and to be transferred to another property in case of public nuisance

• A deposit of 150€ will be charged to pet owner at check in and refunded at checkout. This deposit is to cover partially or totally the cost of possible damages or repairs caused by their pet to Martinhal.

• Any damage will be photo-documented prior to any charges being raised

• Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless Martinhal Resort, its operators and owners, and their respective affiliates from all liability and/or damage suffered as a result of their pets

DOGS AT THE BEACH

Martinhal Resort is situated in the stunning and spoiled nature Parc Costa Vicentina. The Nature Park rules foresee that pets have unfortunately no access to the Martinhal beach Nature park authorities

The next Veterinary is location in Espiche, about 20 minutes to reach by car. They provide a multi-lingua VET service, 24/7.

OUR RECOMMENDATION:

In order to be covered against possible damage in the accommodation, we recommend that you take out dog liability insurance prior to your stay, in case you have not already taken yet such an insurance anyway.
