Personal Pavillion Summary:
PROFESSOR:
Created using the spatial verbs "shear" and "interlock", this pavillion
Matthew Faulkner
creates a habitable space for a single person. When inside, the space envokes a feeling of discomfort with low ceilings and walls that seem to close together. In its base shape, the figure is that of hands interlocking, while each segment is sheared on opposing sides. Additionally, the ground is curated so that there is a stream that runs along the pavillion heping to furhter define the main interior space. A second, smaller space can be observed on an elevated level much much larger, drastic ceiling heights.

Raumplan Project Goal:
PROFESSOR:
Disect and reconstruct Adolf Loos' Raumplan in the form of 2 dimensional drawings in addition to a 3 dimensional voidal model.
Andrew Tripp
Summary: It is stated that the “Raumplan” has never been defined however the concept has grown accordingly. Visualization in three dimensional space is necessary in order to comprehend the complexity of elements displayed within Adolf Loos' Strasser House. The circulation takes a spiraling shape as it pierces every layer of elevation, while the use of split levels shows how Loos was able to incorporate his mezzanine in between pre-existing floors.hilibusam. 9 Square Project Goal:
PROFESSOR:
Disect and reconstruct John Hejduk's 9 square in the form of 2 dimensional drawings in addition to a 3 dimensional voidal model.
Andrew Tripp WITH: Colby Cox & Garrett Reddit
Summary: John Hejduk’s Texas House 7 dominates it’s predecessors in verticality. Although it is only conceptual, the Texas houses greatly influenced architecture by introducing a design strategy that follows a strict 9 square grid. Scattered throughout the house are mezanines that disrupt the 9 square volume but is similar in spatial organization to Loos’ Raumplan. Additionaly, this house in the series follows a sprialing circulation located at the heart of the structure.

URBAN ECOLOGY Summary: Urban Ecology focuses on the idea of how a building can expose a physical reaction to a hyper object specifically referencing global warming. The artifact draws attention to the hidden and subtle elements of the city, such as holdout buildings, interior courtyards and the notion of the trace. With this project we were interested in the way a building both impacts and is affected by city infrastructure, and how this building can highlight and bring attention to certain ecological issues. Our artifact will begin to uncover a hidden entity of the city and at the same time embodies a coexistence with nature.

THE ALAMO RECROWNED Summary: The Alamo has stood as a symbol of texas freedom for years, with its parapet being an easily recognizable token. However after reconstruction, the parapet known today is not of the original design. While creating an archive space for the Alamo's relics, we wanted to pay homage to the original silhoutte of the Alamo, while still paying tribute to the modern reconstruction. In order to revitalize the chapel, the decision was made to expand and "recrown" the iconic church in order to seamlessly blend the classic with the contemporary. The same footprint of the chapel can be observed through each repeating floor as a way to preserve the history both literally and figuratively, as this addition will not take away from the historic surrouding site.

BARCE LONA ARCHITECTURE CE NTE R
Located in Barecelona Spain, this archive serves the purpose

of becoming the new gateway to Ciutadella park, while being a sustainable and impactful presence to the surrounding site. Looking

proposal will become the symbol of entrance to the park, similar to how Estacion de Francia serves as the portal to Bareclona. While looking at the site, our building resides in a hot spot of transportation surrounded by the metro, tram, railroad, streets, and the foot paths. Our building aims to not only act as the entrance to the park, but to act as a cooling feature to the site. By tapping into the water table below, our proposal uses the water to disperse a hazy cloud of mist. This serves the site by stabilizing the site temperature and maintaining a comfortable environment for the prominent and trafficked filled space. Working hand in hand with this system, the choice of material for our facade is I-Active Concrete which removes pollutants from the air and converts them into salts. Once these salts come in contact with water, they are washed off of the facade and removed entirely from the atmosphere. In addition to the surface dispersion of the water, the extraction of the resource below will be used to heat and cool the interior of the building, providing a sustainable source for water usage.
