School safety solutions

School street closures create safer spaces for walking, cycling and play as well as improving air quality for children. Such streets can only be accessed by cyclists and pedestrians at the displayed times.

Project Centre has the expertise to assist with the design, consultation and engagement for school streets as well as road safety audits and drafting Traffic Orders.

Exemptions apply to residents, businesses and blue badge holders requiring access in these zones. Non-exempt vehicles that enter school streets are identified by Videalert’s automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras.

Videalert has also installed CCTV cameras to enforce parking contraventions on school keep clear markings at over 250 school sites. Using powerful analytics software, the cameras automatically capture video evidence and number plates of vehicles that commit offences by being stationary in the defined ‘watch area’ and exceed the ’watch time’.

Mobile enforcement vehicles can also be used to enforce these zones. Videalert provides councils with the widest range of vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, to meet their specific requirements. They include electric and hybrid vehicles as well as traditional powered alternatives.
