Kern this title, so the letter spacing looks good. Then, decrease the leading between these lines. There is a difference between aligning type, and justifying type. Aligning text left or right means to adjust the text so that it is flush on one side. This text is aligned to the left. You can see that the type is straight on the left side, but it is uneven on the right side. The uneven edge of type is called the rag. Justifying the text means to have the body of text aligned on both sides, so there is no rag on either side. Align this text to the right so the right edge aligns with the graphic on the right. So, there will be a rag on the left side of this body of type istead of on the right. Then, increase the leading so this body of type lines up with the bottom of the picture of the sloth. You may want to use a guide to help you line it up perfectly. Under the picture of the sloth, align the text centered. Bodies of text that are aligned center have a rag on both sides. On the date on the right, adjust the baseline shift on the ‘th’, so the top of the t aligns with the top of the 9. Adjust the kerning between the 1 and the 9. This paragraph is aligned center. Please align it left.

Daily Tasks Life as a Bellionaire Dress Up Guess That Villager Build an Island

Editor: Melissa Chroust

Designer: Melissa Chroust

Daily Tasks Money Trees

There is one glowing spot of the ground each day. If you dig it up, you will find 1,000 bells. Take 10,000 bells and put them back in the hole. Over three days, a tree will grow with three times the original amount! The maximum you can bury in the hole is 10,000 bell.

Rocks

Hitting rocks with a shovel or an axe will give you materials like iron, gold, clay, and stone. Sometimes a bug will crawl out! Each day, you can receive a maximum of eight items per rock. One rock will even give you bells! Don’t hit rocks while you have a fruit buff or else they will break before you can collect all of the materials! Broken rocks will respawn the next day. Rocks will stop giving you materials if you hit them too slowly. You can save time and prevent recoil by digging two holes behind yourself.

02

Message in a Bottle

Once per day, a bottle with a DIY recipe will wash up on the beach. If you don’t already know the recipe, you can sell it for 200 bells or you can trade it with a friend.

Balloons

If you hear a whoosh of wind, it’s most likely a balloon flying overhead. The balloons carry presents that can be crafting materials, bells, and more. You can shoot the presents down by popping the balloon with a slingshot. If you’re on an upper tier of the island, you might be able to use a net to pop the balloon by swiping at it like you would a bug.

Nook Stop

03

The Nook Stop will give you miles every day that you use it. The first day is 50 miles, and the reward increases each day if you continue your streak of checking in. On day seven, the reward will cap at 300 miles. Each day after this, you will receive 300 miles. If you miss a day, you will be set back to day one at 50 miles.

Nook+ Miles

The Nook+ app must be purchased from the Nook Stop. It will have rewards of miles for tasks that will change and refresh daily. For the first five tasks, the usual reward for each task will be multiplied by two. Sometimes there is a task with five times the usual reward, and in that case there will only be four tasks with two times the usual reward. The miles for each task will vary so keep an eye out for high paying ones!

Hot Items

Once Timmy and Tommy have opened Nooks Cranny, there will be a hot item of the day. You can find out what it is by asking them or checking the sign in front of Nook’s Cranny. After Nook’s Cranny is upgraded, there will be two hot items every day. They pay twice the usual price for these items, so you can pay off your loans quicker if you make a bunch of the hot item(s) and sell them!

Life as a Bellionaire Matt Chroust aka “Pagrovian”

1.5 million bells (as of May 2020) Interviewed by Melissa Chroust

Is this your first time playing an Animal Crossing game?

I started out playing Animal Crossing on the Nintendo DS about ten years ago. Many of the characters and concepts are the same, but the gameplay has improved with New Horizons and added a level of realism and greater depth to the story that keeps me coming back. You’re very young to have amassed such an empire. To what do you owe your success?

I am always looking for an opportunity. We’ve always had plenty of locally grown apples on Miami Island, but I noticed early on that there was a demand on Miami for imported fruits. At first I started importing coconuts from neighboring islands. Then I started to bring in entire trees and later planted the first coconut plantations and peach tree orchards on the island.

05

Has your fortune affected you negatively emotionally?

Financial success does set you apart. From time to time there is gossip, but I don’t let it affect me in the long run.

You have invested in numerous construction projects on your island. Is that something that you feel passionate about?

I believe in “paying it forward” and a great way to do that has been to sponsor the bridges and ramps the community needs to access remote parts of the island. It works out well for everyone. I’m very proud that the first suspension bridges and stone ramps were paid for with Pagrovian Bells.

06

What do you plan on spending the rest of your bells on?

My dream has been to create a micro loan program on Miami to offer scholarship and entrepreneurship opportunities to the locals. Carlos has expressed an interest in attending acting class and Clyde would love to open a comic book shop. Who is your favorite villager/character and why?

I let would be hard to choose just one. I admire Flick’s passion for bugs. He’s so committed to the insect world that he’s developed his own philosophy, almost a religion you might say. If I had to choose, suppose it would have to be Peck. He was one of my first friends on the island and has a positive, outgoing personality. Do you have any tips for eager bell-grabbers?

You can make and sell handicrafts from local materials, but some are worth much more than others. Be sure to check with the Nooks to see what’s hot that day, and collect plenty of DIY recipes so you’ll be ready.

PSA

Con artist afoot! There is fake art cirulating! Don’t be fooled! Some of the paintings and statues that your “cousin”, Redd, sells are fakes. Blathers won’t accept donations of fake art! Inspect Redd’s art and compare it to the originals to make sure you’re getting the real deal. Some details will be different from the original. If you do get scammed, you can use the art as decorations.
