GlobalLeadersSummit “LetThemEatCake”

CBMUN V's last day has begun. Delegates rush to their commissions in an effort to make their last points and possibly win an award. For leaders at the GLS committee, the topic of Imperialism as the highest state ofcapitalismcontinues to as the topic of discussion. Yesterday, leadersstatedtheirpositionsonthetopicat hand and discussed the key points of the debate which include: the justification for imperialism, economic globalization, historical examples of monopoly capitalism, and imperialism in the 21st century.

In today's first debate session, anti-imperialist leaders continued to condemn imperialism and highlight the harm it has brought to the world, while imperialists defended their intervention in foreign lands. The discussion took a

drastic turn when a crisis was presented: According to a New York Times report, the Commonwealth was separated and each of its states gained independence. After that, Kwame Nkrumah intervened and denounced imperialism in general, but particularly British imperialism, claiming they would cut economic ties with theUK considering it has long oppressed and neglectedCommonwealthnations.

Following said intervention and NewYorkTimesreport, imperialistleaders such as Otto Von Bismarck, KingLeopold II, and Margaret Thatcher (in representation of British imperialism)took a strong stance and announced their mobilization into the African and South American continent. Although they initially claimed that their mobilization would be peaceful, things swiftly went south when they implied that it would actually be an invasion in the colonial style. As an apparent allusion to the infamous “Scramble for Africa,” Margaret Thatcher chanted “let them eat cake” as the three leaders sliced a cake asasymbol oftheirintervention.

Thecommittee'sleaderswere shockedbytheseassertions.Severalother leadersmadecontributions,including SalvadorAllendewhoquotedtheBlack Panthers'leaderassaying,“Youcankill me,butyoucan'tkilltherevolution,”and VladimirLeninwhocalledforaunion againstimperialism.WhenMargaret ThatchersentmentocaptureAllendeand Leninandthreatenedtokillthem,chaos brokeoutthroughouttheroom.The

Yesterday’s debate ended with a crisis proposed by the delegation of China. During the crisis, the delegation of the United States was openly accusedofusing AI warfare systems during an attack against the current political general secretary of the ChineseCommunistParty As a result of the wrong use of AI in warfare systems, the attack killed over 10

civilians and left Xi Jinpingand100more civilians severely injured. Yet, in response to the crisis, delegations such asIsraeland the UnitedStatesjustifiedtheattackdueto the unethical government of Xi Jinping. The delegation of China outraged of the accusations proceeded to present data that corroborated the ethical activities in her governmentsystem.

However, shortly after the delegation of China exhibited a graph that supposedly showed the support from Chinese citizens towards its leaders, the delegation of Israel corroborated a misunderstanding ofthegraph.Asaresult, the commission was informed the graph did not refer towards the support towards Xi Jinping, nonetheless the data was recollected from the Chinese Communist Party members and their support towards theircurrentleader.

Shortly afterward, many delegations proceeded to realize interventions with the support of aGoogle Slides presentations. During this series of interventions, delegations such as Israel provided the commission with four concrete justifications of how AI warfare is considered an innovated way to protect human life, this included efficiency and speed, reduced human risk, better intelligence gathering and analysis, personalization of combat and innovation andresearch.

Later on, the delegates were given lobby time in order to complete resolution papers and pressreleases.Thecommission
