2022 OUTCOMES

They served us, and it’s our turn to serve them. We’re committed to supporting the brave men and women of the US Armed Forces.

Celebrating 4th Of July With Continue Mission

To celebrate Independence Day, we teamed up with Continue Mission to host a craft making booth at the Sandy July 4th Freedom Day event. Thousands of residents attended for a full day of vendors, music, food, a parade, and a fireworks finale. Everyone who stopped by our booth learned about the veteran services provided by Continue Mission, and made a personalized bracelet or necklace with red, white, and blue beads. What a spectacular event hosted by Sandy City! Learn more about Continue Mission and how they’re helping veterans at continuemission.org.
Proud To Honor Our Staff Veterans
Mark Miller Subaru honored our staff veterans with a special token of our appreciation for their service. Jeff Miller personally thanked each of them and presented them with a Veterans Day challenge coin and personal note of thanks. Every year we honor several staff members who served in the military at some point in their life. Some served in the Vietnam War and some served in the Iraqi War, but all of our staff veterans sacrificed many years of their lives to serve and protect our country. Thank you for your service!

Saluting Utah Veterans On Veterans Day
Veterans Day is a time for the nation to give pause and honor the countless neighbors, friends, family, and other individuals who have served our country to defend democracy and our freedoms. For the fourth year, Mark Miller Subaru teamed up with our Subaru Loves Veteran partner, Continue Mission, on Veterans Day to honor the men and women who have “watched our six” and kept us safe over the years! To celebrate their service, we held an open nomination process for people to submit a veteran they know or love to have a special sign placed in their yard on Veterans Day that reads “A Veteran Lives Here.” For each sign registration, Mark Miller Subaru donated $10 to Continue Mission, placing 150 signs in the yards of local veterans throughout Salt Lake County and surrounding areas, and donating $1,500 to Continue Mission. Although we work each and every day to honor our veterans, there’s something special about Veterans Day when we all come together to voice our thanks and love to the many men and women who served our great nation!

2022 Outcomes
We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.
Donating Blood To Save Lives

Mark Miller Subaru partners with ARUP to host onsite blood donation drives with our employees. ARUP Blood Services is a nonprofit collection center and sole blood provider for University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and South Jordan Health Center. In the past few years, our staff have donated 82 units of blood. Each unit saves three lives on average, so staff donations have helped save the lives of approximately 246 local Utahns. You can schedule a blood drive for your work or donate blood yourself at ARUP Blood Services at utahblood.org
Pizza Across America Supports Youth Resource Center

National Pizza Day takes place every February. To celebrate, we partnered with Bella Pizza Truck to provide free pizza dinner to all the unsheltered youth at the VOA Youth Resource Center. We also raised $800 in staff donations through a pizza day at Mark Miller Subaru where employees donated $2 per slice. On Random Acts of Kindness Day, February 17, we delivered our donations and several boxes of handwarmers to help keep VOA’s unsheltered clients warm over the weekend. You can support at voaut.org.
Serving Hot Meals To Help Feed Homeless Youth
Volunteers of America, Utah’s Youth Resource Center is a drop-in resource center and emergency shelter for all youth aged 15-22 imminently at-risk of or experiencing homelessness. Approximately 400 youth are served every year through a variety of programs to help feed, shelter, and case manage these individuals. Over the past year, Mark Miller Subaru staff have been volunteering their time to serve up monthly hot meals. Nothing was more special than spending time with some of the YRC youth on Christmas Day when we served breakfast and gave out Christmas presents. Valentine’s Day was made special when we served a Prime Rib steak dinner with hand-dipped chocolatecovered strawberries for dessert. A big thanks to Carvers Steaks and Seafood for donating the steaks and sides, and to CAWS who brought some adorable foster dogs for the youth to love on. Engaging other businesses and organizations in the Subaru Love Promise is what made this dinner extra special!

2022 Outcomes
In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.
DONATING 1,000 PAIRS TO SOCKS HELP UNSHELTERED YOUTH
Socks are always one of the most requested items at shelters. To celebrate our inaugural Subaru Loves to Help month in February 2023, Mark Miller Subaru donated 1,000 pairs of socks to the Volunteers of America’s Youth Resource Center and Granite Education Foundation to help our unsheltered youth. Nationally, Subaru of America and local retailers have donated a total of 500,000 pairs of socks and 100,000 warm blankets to those most in need through the Subaru Loves to Help initiative!

Mark Miller Subaru Staff Give Back

The Subaru Love Promise isn’t just about donating money, it’s about “Leaving Our MARK” in our community and supporting in any way possible. Mark Miller Subaru staff stepped up this past year to volunteer a recordbreaking amount of their time to support our partners. Whether it be serving monthly meals at the VOA Youth Resource Center to unsheltered youth, helping prepare snack kits and back-to-school backpacks for kids served by Granite Education Foundation, helping setup YWCA’s Candy Cane Lane, or volunteering through the United Way of Salt Lake’s Day of Giving to help paint at Cottonwood High School, we could not be more proud of our staff for going above and beyond to live the Subaru Love Promise in their everyday lives! Visit us on social media @mmsubaru and tell us how you #LeaveYourMARK.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Utah Gets A Refresh
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America went through a rebrand a few years ago, but it takes time and money for the hundreds of local chapters across the country to update their buildings, trucks, collection bins, and more. Last year, Mark Miller Subaru helped Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah get new window graphics at their Donation Center in Holladay. Not only did this help reduce sun and heat in the building and provide extra security on the front doors, but the window vinyl gave a much-needed refresh with the new Big Brothers Big Sisters branding and image to help align them with the national look. Next time you have some gently used clothes or home goods to donate, visit the BBBSU Donation Center in Holladay to drop off your goods and check out the new window graphics. See how you can support at bbbsu.org.
