HEMODIEALYSIS • Now • The episode with Nancy marks the end of several things — Not of using my abilities, but of some wavering I have around them and my relationship with Amasa. Nancy was a nice person, and just doing her job (representing her constituents) as best as she could. Amasa wanting me to change her mind with a particularly talent of mine did not sit well for me. Yes, she did what Amasa wanted after ‘my influence’, but all I did was give her an open ear to talk into. I may not even have done that. Maybe, I just picked a bunch of good restaurants to eat at and convinced her they would be better than eating Foodbox every night. Amasa clearly had its own motives separate from both Nancy’s and mine. They wanted to limit their immediate (and even longterm) dependence on vampires like me, because we were already at a premium. Bill ‘2022-114’ would also have caused a lot of questions about why access to dialysis and pricing did not change. Amasa did not want those kinds of questions circulating around. I decided having Amasa know what I could do (more than they knew already) or what I wanted was unwise. The next time, they might ask me to do something that the universe won’t give me for free. My relationship with Dr. A. would have to change and be more distant. I liked her, but while she worked for Amasa, I couldn’t trust her. Maybe I should make a company where she can work for me? Regarding my abilities, I decided I should try to convince people without actually brain-washing them. If I couldn’t do that, I should accept being in the wrong… at least as far as they are concerned. All I really need is access, which I feel is a fair use of my influence capabilities. I am not sure I will live up to this honor code, but I will try. I also decided I needed to get to know more vampires.
