• State-of-the-art MPEG2 Video encoder for world-class picture quality The Philips DVDR 890 uses the same "Variable Bit Rate" MPEG2 video encoding process used by DVD-Video movie manufacturers. The advantage of the Variable Bit Rate is that it selects a lower Bit Rate for simple images and a higher Bit Rate for more complex images, which means you will record with the same visual integrity as the original.
