Inside information for the employees of Mercy Medical Center

James Word “JW” Retires after 13 years

“The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.” - Ernest Hemingway

Living Spirituality by Sister Lucille Carreau, DHS Asst. Director of Spiritual Services

Thought:

JW - Engineer

Let honesty create space for connecting with others. Speaking your truth, whether to yourself or someone else, opens pathways to the heart. Remember the value of connecting with others. It is a support which helps keep away the feelings of loneliness and abandonment. It’s a way of saying, “I care.”

Practice:

Fellow Mercy Engineers gather to celebrate the retirement of JW, sole engineer at the MOC.

Who can you reach out to today? Take time to allow another to reach out to you. Remember God says, “Come to Me all you who are weary and I will give you rest.” He’s reaching out to you…will you accept…will you do likewise?

New System-Wide, Eco-Friendly Printing Plan Will Save Millions How can you make the world a greener place while helping Dignity Health save about $7.8 million annually? By participating in the Managed Print Services initiative to right-size our printers, faxes, and paper utilization. In just one month, Dignity Health produces more than 34 million prints and copies. If that paper were stacked, it would reach a height equal to nine Empire State buildings. Dignity Health’s Supply & Service Resource Management Department has determined that we can significantly reduce our use of paper and lower our costs by standardizing printers and copiers throughout the system. Kyocera will be our vendor for MPS. In the coming months, all Dignity Health locations, after participating in an assessment of workflow and printing requirements, will receive a personalized MPS recommendation and installation plan. Installation teams will then work closely with each location’s Materials Management directors and the IT Field Service Organization to replace printers,

enhance workflows, and map computers to the new printers. Dignity Health will help ease the transition to these new devices. Vendor technicians will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. After hours, the Dignity Health IT Help Desk will take over. Training will be provided to help people quickly learn how to operate the new printers and copiers. And an MPS SharePoint site will soon be available to provide more information about the overall project, including installation schedules and service support contacts. Watch Sister Mary Ellen Leciejewski, Director of Ecology for Dignity Health, share her thoughts on why supporting MPS will help Dignity Health continue to “go green.” If each of us does our part to support MPS implementation, we can make the world a greener place and help Dignity Health save millions of dollars. If you have questions, please contact John Kukowski, SSRM Contract Administrator, at 602-3072206.

Dignity Health Branded Baby Clothing Now Available Supply & Service Resource Management has introduced new branded baby products, which are now available for hospitals to order. This is a mandatory product conversion. All existing baby clothing and blankets will be replaced by the branded baby clothing, which includes a receiving blanket, long-sleeved shirt, short-sleeved onesie, socks, lowend hat, and high-end hat. The baby product line was developed by Stacie Tracy of Dignity Health, Designer Deb Adler, Sue MacInnis of

Medline, and the Dignity Health Perinatal Services managers. The elephant design was chosen because one of the meanings of the elephant is dignity, and the elephant is a genderneutral symbol. The orange and white colors were selected based on a poll of all facilities. Thirty-six of 37 facilities preferred orange and white to the traditional pink and blue.
