Extra-Curricular Activities

At Stradbroke Primary Academy we are passionate about providing experiences that will enhance the curriculum and provide opportunities for personal development.

At Stradbroke Primary Academy enriching opportunities to build pupils’ cultural capital are offered in many ways. In Key Stage 2 we offer after school enrichment activities which give pupils the chance to try out activities that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do.

Activities depend on what we have to offer at the time but have included: karate, cooking, sports activities (such as lacrosse and archery, as well as football and basketball), art activities and computing.

Visits and visitors are coordinated to ensure that pupils are provided with developmentally appropriate opportunities. We value the experience of performance to develop pupils confidence and speaking skills.

In Year 2 and Year 5 pupils create ‘A Play in a Day’ in conjunction with Konflux Theatre, creating performances around themes such as ‘The Great Fire of London’ and ‘The Tempest’. In Year 4 pupils explore the conflict between Boudicca and the Roman invaders.

We also feel it is important for pupils to visit places of interest and the range and scope of visits increase as pupils go through the school. We offer a residential experience in Year 6 to ensure pupils can challenge and test themselves to develop skills and character.
