The curriculum at Stradbroke Primary Academy has been designed from the idea that knowledge matters. It is broad, ambitious and rigorous. Our curriculum is highly effective and delivers high outcomes across the board.

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum and is a huge focus for all our pupils, but especially our youngest pupils. Our pupils have access to the highest quality texts at every stage to develop their love of reading and to secure skills of inference, prediction and comprehension essential to access wider learning opportunities.

Explicit in our curriculum is a focus on developing the whole child with excellent behaviours for learning, resilience and ambition so that our pupils can fulfil our high expectations and develop high expectations for themselves.

At Stradbroke Primary Academy, we are proud that all of our pupils, including our children with barriers to learning, have full access to our classroom.

We have the highest expectations paired with strong teacher pedagogy and excellent support from leaders. We aim for all pupils to make excellent progress.

Reading: The Stradbroke 100

We are passionate about ensuring every child develops the skills and knowledge they need, inspiring a love of reading that opens the door to the best academic opportunities.

We have identified the ‘Stradbroke 100’. These are 100 books we feel that pupils should read before they leave the academy.

All of the books are available for pupils at the school and staff ensure that pupils have access to these texts and the opportunity to become familiar with them.

These books are recorded over the years, so pupils can see the progress they have made over the course of their school journey.

We also have an excellent library on site that pupils can use to borrow fiction and nonfiction books.
