Our Values

These underpin everything we do at East Point Academy. We believe these values are essential attributes that our students should have opportunities to develop during their time with us and go on to demonstrate throughout their lives.

Be aspirational

We want our students to have big dreams and the tools to realise them. No matter their goals, a strong set of GCSE results with great academic outcomes will allow them to find their dream job. Alongside this, we understand that a range of experiences helps students to find their passion. Students have to make difficult decisions to shape their future so we engage a range of people from across the community to help them fully realise their aspirations.

Develop independence

We teach our students to be independent thinkers, providing them with the knowledge and the skills to be the change they want to see in the world. We nurture our students through high quality pastoral support and provide opportunities to explore their talents and interests through our carefully considered Personal Development Programme. We expect our students to have opinions and know how to express themselves in order to make positive contributions to the academy and our community.

Show resilience

We help students to understand that learning is a journey with many ups and downs along the way. They are taught to learn from their mistakes and embrace challenges. Through perseverance and determination our students develop confidence and strength of character to prepare them for the future. We have a range of staff available to support any challenges our students might face. We know each of our students as an individual and we provide support according to their needs.

Give respect

Students learn what it means to be respectful of themselves, those around them and the environment. From Principal’s Council to our Anti-bullying ambassadors, student voice is an important part of our school culture. We have high expectations of our students. The ‘EPA 10’ makes our expectations of behaviour, conduct and uniform clear and these are regularly communicated to students to help all of our students meet this standard. We expect our students to be courteous to each other, staff and visitors and demonstrate respect in all they do.
