The support to flourish

Across both our school sites we pride ourselves on the strong pastoral care and support that we offer our pupils. We recognise and appreciate that the emotional and social development of our pupils is just as important as their academic and intellectual development.

We aim to create a community of active thinkers and learners who are happy and engaged with all aspects of school life. We strongly believe this balance is best achieved in partnership with pupils, parents and guardians.

At Hymers Hessle Mount each pupil has their own dedicated class teacher whom parents are able to contact. Parents’ evenings and events at the school mean there are plenty of opportunities for involvement in school life and for interaction with the school.

Our House system at Hymers College, whereby children are placed in one of four houses on their arrival, means throughout their school life they have a support structure within their House. In our Junior School the CARE code guides all pupils in their actions and behaviour. In the Senior School our Sixth Formers act as buddies for pupils lower down the school, Form Prefects support form classes and our pastoral staff are always available for pupils.
