The Bar/re is a centre for the exploration of the connection between movement and music. Both disciplines are grounded in a set of syllabi that are then explored to produce a work of art, however much contemporary creating within the fields today is not linked to a standard method of production. This center capitalizes on the opportunity to produce music through dance, in a non-linear, collaborative manor. The Bar/re takes cues from its site, and existing form to produce a space that formalizes the act of tracking an organic form; movement, over a linear space to produce, reaearch and perform sound.

The Museum of Memories is a home for the memories of the community of Winnipeg. The space is designed in response to the rich palimpsest of histories and stories present in the location, as well as the active social opportunities in the area. The museum houses items that are donated by community members, which may appear mundane but combined with their story, provide meaning to the narrative within the space. The museum is then a culmination of these individual narratives as connected to the artifacts, which tell the collective story of the community, creating a space to bond over shared experiences. The design of the space is based on this concept of memory, where the form and materiality are inspired by the altering and fading of memory over time, creating an ephemeral design.

The Winnipeg Women and Children’s Center acts as a safe haven to women who are experiencing unsafe or unstable housing arrangements. The space provides the tools to help women cope, recuperate and thrive, including spaces for counselling resources, work opportunities, with an on-site grocer and a place to call home. The project establishes a space that is both welcoming and engaging to children, as an aid to women in maintaining their guardianship, as well as providing supports to care for children and provide stability such as daycare services.
The goal of the space is to provide services to support women and their children if they have, in moving on from past experiences and learning to thrive moving forward. The space seeks to create an engaging and warm community for women in need. The space’s design is inspired by the act of a hug, using soft forms, warm colours and a level of both whimsy and femininity to provide a safe and comfortable environment to call home.
