Welcome to SF State! Your hard work has paid off and you are officially a college student! As you embark on this new journey you might be feeling a million different emotions followed by many questions. At Metro Academy we strive to ease your transition from high school to college by providing both academic and personalized support. SF State is home to many great programs that like Metro, are here to help you. Use this survival guide to learn about some of these programs you can take advantage of. ACADEMIC RESOURCES

Although college is about new experiences, always keep in mind that academics should remain your primary focus. Make sure to take advantage of these academic resources throughout the school year. Campus Academic Resource Program (CARP) CARP is a free student tutorial and academic support program. They offer tutoring in topics such as math, science, business, writing, academic skills and more. On top of their tutoring services, CARP also has ongoing workshops throughout the academic school year in several areas. English Tutoring Center (ETC) ETC provides academic support to undergraduate students enrolled in English composition, reading, and English as a Second Language (ESL). HEALTH SERVICES

Staying healthy is a requirement for success. Luckily, our campus has many health services available to you. Student Health Services (SHS) SHS provides accessible and cost-effective quality medical care for all registered SFSU students. At the health center they provide basic care, laboratory and x-ray procedures, women’s services, Immunizations, pharmacy, nutrition services, preventive medicine, psychiatric care, HIV testing, and much more. Specialty services are also available at additional cost. Gaining experience in your field while in college is key in ensuring employment upon graduation. If you will need to work while in school consider a position on campus. Gator Jobs Gator Jobs is a campus wide job listing database. You can upload your resume and search through hundreds of potential employers. There are many resources on campus to help you keep your finances on check. If you’re looking for a job or scholarship opportunities, check these out!
