LOWER TUITION RATES Tuition for attending GateWay is often one fourth the cost to attend one of Arizona’s three state universities. For current tuition rates visit: GATEWAYCC.EDU/TUITION TRANSFER OPTIONS GateWay offers courses, programs and associate degree that are guaranteed to transfer to any one of Arizona’s three state universities (see page 11). Always check with an advisor, as some courses and programs may transfer to other colleges and universities nationwide. Classes listed online at MARICOPA.EDU marked with "SUN," SUN are easily transferable to Arizona State University. SMALLER CLASS SIZE Most classes average 20-30 students in size at GateWay, whereas the same lower-division class at a university may average 100-125 students. A smaller class size increases the instructor’s opportunity to assist students on a one-on-one basis.

LOCATION GateWay Community College is centrally located on an urban campus in Phoenix, Arizona. As the only community college with a METRO Light Rail stop on campus, getting here is easier than ever. Our location provides easy access to the Tempe and Downtown Phoenix campuses of ASU. GateWay’s proximity to the main business district of the nation’s sixth largest city puts you close to many of the top employers in the region. The area provides a mix of historic charm with newer housing developments, as well as abundant shopping, entertainment, restaurants and night life that are a light rail ride away. LIGHT RAIL The METRO Light Rail consists of 50 trains, 28 stations and eight ‘park and ride’ facilities, with one located adjacent to campus. Trains operate approximately 20 hours a day, stopping at stations every ten minutes during regular business hours. For more information, visit: GATEWAYCC.EDU/ LIGHTRAIL to learn about pricing, student passes, schedules and maps (see page 96).

NATURAL TRANSITION The size of a university can be overwhelming. At GateWay, our campus is small, providing the opportunity to acclimate to a college environment, to understand what is expected and to familiarize yourself with the resources needed to make the most of your educational experience. QUALITY INSTRUCTORS Many of our instructors have received the highest degree in their discipline and continue to work in their field, bringing real-world experience to the classroom.

RN TO BSN CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT The Maricopa Community Colleges provide an affordable way for you to progress toward a bachelor's degree. You can complete an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing at a Maricopa college near you and then transfer to a 4-year college or university for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Some of Maricopa’s university transfer partners even offer programs that allow you to earn your AAS and BSN degrees at the same time. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT PROGRAMS (CEP) Concurrent Enrollment (Associate-Baccalaureate) Programs in nursing are offered at participating community colleges in the Maricopa Community College District in partnership with select universities. These programs are designed for qualified nursing students who are interested in completing an associate degree and bachelor's degree at the same time. CEP students graduate with a BSN degree approximately one semester after graduating with an AAS degree, which allows them to seek employment at a higher education level much sooner than they would following a traditional transfer program. A limited number of participants are selected from the pool of MaricopaNursing students who have applied to the program and meet all CEP eligibility requirements. Please note: Students are required to register for and attend a CEP information session in order to be eligible to submit an application for the program. To date, Maricopa offers Concurrent Enrollment Programs with the following institutions: Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University (NAU), and University of Phoenix (UOPX). Visit: NURSING. MARICOPA.EDU/CONCURRENTENROLLMENT.PHP for updates, program brochures and applications.

COLABORACION COMUNITARIA

GATEWAY STOP

UNIVERSITY STOPS

CATCH THE TRAIN TO CLASS GateWay Community College is the only community college along the Metro Light Rail line, conveniently located at the 38th & Washington stop. The Light Rail is a 20-mile system that connects the cities of Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa. Along the rail are eight park and ride facilities, with one adjacent to campus. The system allows for students to be able to take classes at GateWay as well as at Arizona State University campuses in Downtown Phoenix or Tempe. GateWay is centrally located between both campuses, as well as on the Light Rail route. STUDENT PASSES Monthly and semester passes are currently available and may be purchased at the College Bookstore located in the Main (MA) Building. The Maricopa Community College District is able to offer a subsidy to qualified students to help lower the cost of Valley Metro passes and encourage ridership to help reduce pollution. To qualify, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours at the time of purchase. Tickets are available at the following cost, but prices are subject to change:

PARK-AND-RIDE

To apply for the subsidies, you must complete a form available in the Center for Student Life in the MA Building at GateWay. Subsidy passes are limited and available on a first- come, first-served basis. BENEFITS OF TAKING THE LIGHT RAIL TO GATEWAY The Metro Light Rail brings you right to campus as we are the only community college directly on the Light Rail line. •

Leave your car in the Park-and-Ride lot and take a class before or after work.

Centrally located between Arizona State University’s Downtown Phoenix and Tempe campuses.

Free parking on campus.

Avoid highway traffic and save gas and money, too.

Wi-Fi available so you can get work done while you ride.

Meet new people or just relax.
