1966

Dr. Dana Flavin-Koenig '66, has studied medicine and science internationally for the past 30 years, providing her with an extensive background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Nutrient Biochemistry and Medicine. She is the Director of the Foundation for Collaborative Medicine and Research, a non-profit Research Institute established to inform and educate colleagues and patients about the value of utilizing nutrition and nutrient supplements to enhance conventional cancer therapy. Kathleen Nardoni Horvath '76 was recently inducted into the Illinois State University Hall of Fame as a leading educational content expert in Illinois. Her ability to develop and communicate best practices has improved learning outcomes for students in her district and across the state. Kathleen has served as a teacher, state field advisor, director of school improvement, and assistant superintendent, and is co-author of the book “No More Summer Reading Loss.”

Aimee Delaney '91 became a Partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in May 2016. She serves as the leader of the law firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and teaches employment law and labor law at Loyola University Chicago.

1995

Eric Burnett proposed to Joleen Simonetti '95 at Marian Catholic High School on Dec. 19. Eric and Joleen met at Marian Catholic while in high school, graduated, grew apart, and then reconnected two years ago. Eric surprised Joleen with a proposal when they stopped by to pick up a year book and update their addresses. The happy couple is hoping for a Fall 2017 Wedding.

Jennifer Purcell Deenihan '02 and her husband Kevin welcomed their third child, Nora Colleen, on Thursday, Nov. 25. Nora weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 20 inches long. She joins big brother Quinlan (4), and big sister Molly (3).

Kathleen Mesterharm '01, Mike Mesterharm '05 and Brian Iggins '08 were among the 40,400 runners who crossed the finish line in the 2016 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 9. Both Kathleen and Brian are members of the Marian Catholic faculty (English and Social Studies respectively) while Mike is Marian Catholic’s Director of Development.

2005

Patrick T. Murphy, MS, CFRE '05 will become the new Director of Development and Alumni Engagement at the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation in January 2017. Since 1950, the foundation has awarded thousands of students (including Patrick and several other Marian Catholic alumni) scholarships to attend the university of their choice. Scholarships are awarded to students demonstrating academic merit, strong character, and financial need. Alison DeLuca Powell '07 and her husband Clint are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Beatrix Rose Powell. Born Feb. 24, 2016, Beatrix Rose weighed 7.5 pounds and was 21.5 inches long. Alison sings and plays clarinet with Ali Cat & the Rat Rods, a rockabilly/swing band that also features her dad, Russ DeLuca, on drums.

2007

Nick Nylen '07 attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he studied Cinema and Audio Arts in pursuit of his dream of working in the film industry. Nick eventually obtained his Masters in Fine Arts and then headed to Los Angeles. He is now a post-production manager for America’s Got Talent.
