Carla (Cifelli) Carter ’67 is “proud Mom” of Christin Carter, drum major for Chaparral High School Marching Band, in Scottsdale, AZ.

Rick ’94 and Megan (Murphy) ’94 Sutkus are pleased to announce the birth of their son, John Murphy Sutkus. John was born on September 3, 2012 and weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and was 19 inches long. He joins proud big brothers, Luke and Liam.

Fred Delaney, Jr. ’88 and his wife, Maren, are the proud parents of Emma Daly Delaney, born on September 14, 2012. Emma weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 22 inches long. She joins big sisters Sophie, five years old, and Cailin, two and a half years old.

Kevin Walery ’94 was appointed Athletic Director and Division Director of Science and Physical Education at Oak Lawn Community High School after serving six years as dean at the high school. Donovan Klein ’97 and his wife, Amanda, welcomed Keagan Lewis Klein into this world on August 31. He was almost seven weeks early, weighed 4 pounds, 5 ounces and was 18 inches long. He joins his big sister, Abigail Jean, who just turned two.

Rachel Greenebaum ’10

completed her first young adult novel, The Whales Boy, and this August it was published by Inkwater Press. She read from the novel at Marian Catholic’s Poetry Club meeting on October 25, 2012. In her presentation, Rachel described her writing style, publishing experience, and how her education at Marian Catholic gave her the tools to become a successful author. Samantha Chapleau, Rachel’s former English teacher was an editor of The Whales Boy. “I was excited to be back at Marian Catholic,” said Greenebaum. “Marian taught me who I was spiritually and what it took to become an author.”

Paul ’97 and Megan Moffatt announce the birth of their son, John Francis, who was born on September 24, 2012. John weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. The family resides in Chicago. Michael ’98 and Christine (Lira) ’99 Gagnon welcomed their son, Brady Michael Gagnon, on January 10, 2012. He is their first child. They currently reside in Valparaiso, IN. Julie (Brewer) Smith ’99 and her husband, Dennis, welcomed their second daughter, Fiona Anne, on October 21, 2011. Fiona was 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 18 inches long. She was lovingly welcomed by her big sister, Angelica. Jennifer Murphy ’00 married Dutch Williams on October 13, 2012 at Sergeant Means Park in Olympia Fields. Marian alumni guests included father of the bride Mike Murphy ’70 and bridesmaid Melissa Jozwiak ’00. The newlyweds remember the mother of the bride Christine Kowalsky Murphy ’70, who passed away in 2011. The couple resides in Crown Point, IN.

Tricia Cox ’93 married David Pecka on April 14, 2012 at Old St. Pat’s Church in Chicago. The reception was held at The Newberry Library. Marian alumni, Kate (Moffatt) Rhodes ’93 and Angela (Segvich) Matushek ’93 were in the wedding party, as well as Tricia’s brother, Steven Cox who also attended Marian. Other alumni attending were Leanne (Cox) Sutherland ’89 and Cyndi LaFond ’93. After an unbelievable honeymoon in China, the couple now reside in Tinley Park, IL.

Jenn Purcell Deenihan ’02 and her husband, Kevin, welcomed their first child on October 21, 2012. Quinlan Patrick Deenihan weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long! Quin is a happy, healthy baby boy!

Kate (Moffatt) Rhodes ’93 and her husband, Andy, are preparing for the first birthday of their son, Jacob William (Jake) in February. The family, which includes Frankie, the St. Bernard dog, resides in Bartlett.
