After transformation

Richmond Penitentiary was built in 1836, and has since this undergone some changes. The above historical representations of Richmond Penitentiary is based on an original plan drawing from 1836 , drawings of additions in 1880, interviews of the former staff at Richmond (1960) and registrations in 2017. Addittions between 1880 and 1960 were constructed with concrete blocks, produced by the inmates at Richmond. All previous buildings were built with danish bricks and local natural stone.
