YEAR1

On March 3rd, we celebrated World Wildlife Day. It is a United Nations International day to celebrate all the world's wild animals and plants and the contribution that they make to our lives and the health of the planet.

Year 1 students were thrilled and eager to learn about the wildlife in their surroundings. The children learnt about the importance of keeping the environment clean for theanimals.

They recreated a wildlife corner for the tiger that Year 1 and 2 students symbolically adopted a couple of years ago. The preservation of wildlife is paramount in our lives, and we all have to work together to ensure our wildlife environments are safe and cared for so that animals have a happy and healthy placeto thrive!

They learned and discovered information about all 5 of their senses and what relationship the senses havewith each other. During oneof thelessons, all the students were divided into five groups, and everyonewas assigned to a specific sense.

They had to work together to find fivethings outside in theplayground that they sensed with their senses. One student in each group was responsible for writing all the findings down and sharing their learning with the rest of the class. They were very creativeand enjoyed theactivity a lot!

YEAR3 AND 4

For both IPC ?Vanishing Rainforests? and Enrichment, our Year 3/4 students practised being Entomologists for a day, focusing on our local minibeasts, and making predictions about each species' particular habits.

We followed a few, and discovered some interesting information about how they behave in their natural environment. We found a seven-spot ladybird (ladybug) hunting for aphids, and we were lucky enough to watch a silver ringed wasp digging a new homein thedirt.

Later, we took our findings back to the classroom to see if our predictions matched what we had discovered, and compiled it all on our Fair Test Board.
