Team flies high at carnival MAREEBA netballers have risen to new heights at a representative carnival in Port Douglas. Two representative teams from Mareeba Netball attended the Fowlers Regional Representative Carnival, with the Under 12s showcasing their teamwork skills. The carnival brought together the best players aged 12 and under and 14 and under. Each Association in the Marlin Coast Netball Region enters one team in each division for a play-off against each other. The 12 and Under Mareeba team had a great day with

convincing victories over Douglas, Innisfail and Tablelands representative teams. In the decider against Cairns, Mareeba was competitive throughout the game, however Cairns was too strong in the end with Mareeba finishing second in the Region. Lexi Ford, Megan Crane and Nataliah Lopez were Talent Identified and invited to the Junior Marlins clinic, in September, with former Australian Netball Representative and current Assistant Coach to New Zealand Vicki Wilson.

Thrills and Spills at billy cart race The Qld Titles Billy Cart Race went off like a rocket, on Sunday, August 17. There were more than a few thrills and spills in the Midgets and Match Racing during the morning. The Race is a free community event that attracts many young families from around the district, from as far south as Townsville to Cairns and up across the Tablelands including as far as Ravenshoe and Mt. Garnet. The Malanda Lions Club and the Billy Cart Race committee would like to thank our major sponsors Nerada Tea, the Seven Network and SPAR Malanda and also extended their thanks to the many small businesses who have been with us for the long haul and who continue to make this the one and truly only Qld Titles Billy Cart Race—an outstanding community event.

The Mareeba Bulls wrapped up the final season's fixture in emphatic style on Sunday, at Borzi park. In a score line that is more reminiscent of a rugby match the bulls put a baker's dozen passed Southside Comets to win the match overwhelmingly 13-0. The onslaught stated as early as the second minute when Anthony Mete latched onto a cross from Elliott Gardener to open the scoring with the provider scoring again just two minutes later. From there came a progression of goals with no less than eight in the first half alone. Bulls coach Alex Srhoj rested key players for the upcoming final knockout series this coming weekend. Elliot gardener collected a six pack of goals while Anthony Mete slotted in five with further contributions by Victor Madrid and Robert Pendenza. Ending the regular season on such a high Alex Srhoj put aside the disappointment of the loss to the Stratford

Dolphins the previous week . Duncan Simms CEO of FNQ Football was there to hand out medals and premiership trophies to both the premier and reserve side after the match. "Mareeba will be hard to beat in the finals and Mareeba will be an excellent representative for the FNQ region in the Crad Evans in Townsville in October" Mr. Simms Said. Bulls Coach Alex Srhoj said, "I'm glad the regular season is over but from my point of view we still have a lot to accomplish as we prepare for the finals and then the Crad Evans". There will be no rest for the Bulls to savour the premiership winning moment as they prepare for the knockout semi-final which will be played at Borzi park Mareeba this Saturday night as they take on the team that has beaten them on both occasions during the regular season, however at home and with a final in their sights, the Bulls will be hard to beat. A huge crowd is anticipated at Borzi park and supporters are urged to don the orange and black to show their support.
