news in brief Airborne Oil & Gas to Qualify for Total Airborne Oil & Gas is going to qualify Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) for a deep-water jumper spool application for French operator Total. TCP flow lines, jumpers and risers are flexible and corrosionfree, and their light weight and high strength enable a significant reduction in total installed cost. For the deepwater spool application, the TCP offers the opportunity of saving time and cost due to the inherent flexibility of the product. TCP allows installation without high-precision subsea metrology, which is the case for rigid steel spools. The project is planned to deliver qualification to DNVGL standard RP-F119 in Q1-2017.
Vroon and Barge Master Team Up On Walkto-Work Vessel
Vroon’s walk-to-work vessel VOS Start will be equipped with the brand-new Barge Master Gangway. This combination will enable the safe and efficient transfer of personnel and cargo. The Barge Master Gangway incorporates an access tower with elevator, providing step-free access. The adjustable pedestal provides full flexibility in landing heights. This next-generation walkto-work vessel will be available to the offshore industry in Q2 2017.
HighWire Taut Wire System Upgrade for Boskalis On behalf of its client Boskalis, Seatools has completed the upgrade of a HighWire survey grade taut wire system. The upgraded position reference system will be deployed to determine the position of a subsea cable plough during a subsea cable installation project. Initially delivered in 2001, the HighWire system has been used during the installation of submerged sewage outfall pipes in challenging conditions. Because of their positive experience using the HighWire system, Boskalis decided to rely on the system again. This time, however, the wire orientation needed to be changed from nearly vertical to nearly horizontal. The upgraded system performed excellently during factory testing, outstripping the 2001 accuracy level of 1cm, measured across significant distances.
