From Wikipedia: A salon is a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine taste and increase knowledge of the participants through conversation. Salons, commonly associated with French literary and philosophical movements of the 17th century and 18th centuries, were carried on until quite recently, in urban settings, among likeminded people. From Calvary/Green: A salon is a gathering of friends and strangers crammed together in a small apartment, to amuse one another and find out about new authors and have fun with words. It’s just a highbrow excuse for low-brows to get drunk and read books in celebration of Marc’s birthday.

Mexican food, red wine, and margaritas will be supplied, but bring anything extra you’d like to have. There will be very few chairs, so you might have to sit on the floor. But we have pillows and a bed and a couple plush chairs, and it’s more comfortable than I’m probably making it out to seem, but I just want you to be warned, our apartment is very small. The party ends when we kick you out by flicking the light switches and banging pots and pans together while politely, but firmly, telling you that although we really do love and value our friendship, you must now leave our home. You will not be allowed to drive home drunk, so utilize public transportation or a local car service (number available upon request). Nudity is encouraged, but not mandatory. Children will not be tolerated and pets will not be permitted. Reading from Dan Brown or any kind of Bible will have you ejected early and forever shunned. Remember: public speaking isn’t embarrassing if you are intoxicated and among friends.
