The exhibition begins in 1947, when the Dior brand was founded, and ends today. Throughout the exhibition, more than 500 objects are displayed to show the impact of the house with the “New look” silhouette and how it has changed with the years. In the exhibition can be found specific dresses that were made for celebrities or royalty such as the dress that Dior himself made for the 21st birthday of Princess Margaret, the Swarovsky crystal-encrusted dress made by John Galliano for the 2008 J’Adore perfume campaign worn by Charlize Theron, or some of the most exquisite dresses made for the Cannes festival.

The main difference between this exhibition and the one held in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris with the same title is that the one on the V&A Museum has a new section that shows the passion that the designer Christian Dior had for the British culture. One of the most outstanding lounge that the exhibition encapsulates will probably be “the fantasy of the ball”. This selection will show 70 years of the most impressive formal evening wear, showing the indubitable skill of the haute couture atelier and the Christian Dior’s vision of formalwear.
The exhibition will be in the V&A Museum until the 1st of January of 2020.
